Texas Annual Prop Party D/FW

If it has to be centered around All-Con, then here is how I'd like to see it. Go to All-Con Friday or Sunday or both. Don't attend it at all Saturday. Maybe go to the free Fan Day of Scifi expo for an hour or two Saturday morning, I hear Ernie Hudson and Morena Bacarin were just added. Usually an hour is enough on free fan days. Have the party start around 2:00 or 3:00 Saturday at my house. Anyone that wants can leave my house in time for Saturday night's events at All-Con. The rest of us party all night. [/b]

March 17 will work for me. I was not planning on going to All-Con, but I will be taking the kids to Scifi Expo on Sat or Sun. I hope to have some progress made on my current project to show.

It's questionable if I'll be in town on March 17th, but if I'm here I would be down for the prop party. April would work better for me.

Nobody is answering the question I most want answered. All-Con has events all day until 2:00 am. When are we supposed to schedule the Prop Party around that? That is the only issue I see. Figure that part out and the Date and Time will be set.

That is also the primary reason I wish it was another weekend.

Personally, I'm much more interested in the prop party than any con. That's not a consideration where I'm concerned, but I appreciate that it is for others. I'd just as soon skip the con as I would go.

A couple months ago I started dating a teacher, which means I get Spring Break again in a manner of speaking. Since she's off for a week, I'll be taking vacation time myself and we're going on a camping trip. The 17th is the week end after Spring Break, but we may be using that as a travel day. So March 9-18 is very questionable for me regardless of conventions, fan-days, or any other activity. I do appreciate that those events will bring some out-of-town RPFers who might not otherwise be in the DFW area.

RedTwoX and I are on the same page. I'll be gone from the tenth to the seventeenth.

Scheduling a prop party around events that end at two in the morning would be tough no matter how ya slice it.

It looks like I will be in Colorado Mar 16 - 21 or 22?... I expect to be back by the following weekend as Friday the 23rd is my Bday. I'm not interested in All-Con. Maybe I'd like to see it once, but I don't feel I'm missing anything if I don't.

Thats three in a row who have come to previous prop parties and can't make it to this one. Allow me to suggest either March 3rd, March 31st, or April 7th.

March 3 is cool with me, although I will most likely be able to make any of the above dates.

I don't have a problem with any of those dates. My only comment is: The longer we put it off the more finished prop replicas I have to show off :lol

I'm good with any of the above dates, but for me, the sooner the better.

Either of the March dates work for me. April 7th is out, except for maybe a quick drop in to say hello.

Also, since this won't be at All-Con, I encourage ALL of you to attend All-Con. This is a grass roots con that is a lot of fun. Still growing, but there's lots to do. We finally have a cool alternative to the hum-drum Expo shows, so let's support it. Plus, there will be several panels dedicated to props. One is on leatherwork, which yours truly happens to be putting on :) I know another is being put on about molding and casting and also vacuforming by some of the TDH guys.

All that sounds cool. How about March 31st? It will likely be warmer than March 7th. We've had freak snow storms as late as the 2nd week of March.

RedtwoX, I so know what you mean. Between now and then, I'll probably try to finish at least 5 or 6 things. Last year, it was 7. There is just something motivating about a Prop Party approaching.

I can't wait TWO whole months for another prop party.... :cry
But, if it's gotta be the 31st, I can live with that.

Cool. I changed the thread title and first post to reflect March 31st. That is three weekends in a row, I'll be involved with this hobby with All-Con and Scifi Expo followed by Fear Fest, then the party.

Now you have to reach a date for a Houston Party.

I know that isn't directed at me Nick. I get it. I do really. That would most likely work for me. I want to come down to Houston.

I know I'm repeating myself. Sorry.

Its hard for me to even consider a prop party around All-Con or centered around the two Horror cons because they're a good amount of fun, with plenty of events and they both run quite late. A prop party is not needed and would in fact be a watered down experience because of the nature of the events, whether it be off site or at the event.

The next Scifi Expo only weekend is June 29th through July 1st. They never run late. We could start the party early off-site and have it run late. Maybe Estil would even be interested in hosting it that weekend if his schedule permits, since he has the most killer place and is only 20 minutes away. I could still host if he can't.

Do we need to hold a vote whether it be March 31st or the weekend of the next Scifi Expo only, June 30th? I'm willing to wait. Like RedTwoX said, its added incentive coupled with increased length of time to build up props.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Anytime is OK for me

Nick

P.S. The June Dallas Comic Con's schedule isn't even up yet. No clue to who the media guests will be.
But I'm sure it will be slightly better than the free fan day in March since it's a paying event.
