I posted a request in the off topic area asking for reference pictures of Temuera Morrison (Which I could still use more of;)), but I figured I'd post it in this section to get more input.
This is only my third attempt at sculpting something this large using clay and my first time sculpting an actual person, so please be gentle:lol

Here's how it started two weeks ago.

Here's my progress so far:

I still have a lot of work, such as sculpting the hair, squaring the chin a little more and adding texture.
Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ely

That looks excellent! Well done. Would look great on top of some killer Jango armor. Would the head fit inside the helmet too, with the sculpted hair?

Excellent stuff.

I'm hoping it will fit after I sculpt the back of the hair because it's a pretty snug fit now with an MS1.

Thanks BlindSquirrel!
I'm a glutton for punishment, so I dove in head first with my first and second sculpt.
My first one was the Guyver and the next was Yoda.
I've done other sculpts of helmets, but using plaster or bondo.

That's fantastic for your first sculpt of a human face! :thumbsup

Are you using oil-based clay or air-drying clay?

Cheers,
John

Thanks Darksaber212 and Stormtrooper!
I had an hour or so to tweak this sculpt this morning.
Gave him a haircut, chin implant and some lip work :D

By the way, if you're wondering why the eyes are chrome, they are actually glass ornaments that I used for the eyeballs :lol

I'm actually using Roma Plastilina oil based clay.
I just recycled the clay from the Yoda sculpt. Great stuff, but it needs to be clearcoated or primered before molding because of the sulfur.

That's fantastic for your first sculpt of a human face! :thumbsup

All your sculpts are gorgeous, love em! Cant wait to see these done, are you going to offer casts possibly? Just curious...

Thanks CGClone, oldken & deadbolt:redface

I think I finally going to settle with a little more expression on his face.
Here's a slight update (the eyebrows ridges are sharp right now, because that's where I'm going to sculpt the eyebrows):

I know all these updates are only slight changes, but I'm trying to finalize the look I'm going for.
I don't know if you guys are getting tired of these small updates, so please let me know if I should just post when he's almost done, rather than all these WIP.

Oh that really looks like him now.

When you started, there was no question who you were trying to portray, but it was more 'generic cloney' - now it actually looks just like Tem.

Keep the shots coming!

I'm happy that this is turning out as well as it is, but I still have a lot to learn.
However, I'm finding out a lot about facial structures as I work on this sculpt and I actually finished my first human ear :thumbsup, now on to the other one.

I will be doing some scarring, according to Jango, but I guess the other scarring can easily be done once I cast this up to be different clone variants.

I just realized, I never posted a real profile picture, so here it is with the finished ear and hopefully it's all right:

Thanks again for all the great comments and support!

My wife wants me to hurry up and finish this sculpt up, since she has another bust she wants me to try to tackle, this time a female one - can anyone say "Multipass";).

Not much to update, but I only had a little time this weekend and worked on the eye area and layed up some clay for the eyebrows.
Lots more work to do. . .
