Hi

I decided to take a break from my Robocop suit for a few weeks and decided to build a Bane mask based on The Dark Knight Rises.

The idea was to have a screen accurate (ish) Bane mask for cheap using mainly stuff I had laying around in the garage.

I found some referance pics on google and got to work using good old cardboard as my base material. This is a list of materials I used that i had layng around:

- Cardboard (main structure of the mask)
- Velcro (to hold it to my head!)
- Small piece of plastic sheet (mouth piece with holes in)
- Wooden scewers (details)
- Milk bottle top (details)
- Shampoo bottle top (details)
- Plastic hoses of varying size (face hoses)
- 6mm ID Springs (face hoses)
- Spray paint (er....)

I did have to buy a few things though:

- Non slip mat (mesh type for details)
- Black cable (for the two hoses on head)

Then i got started, the basic shape was easy enough and had this together fairly quickly, but cutting all of the hoses and attachments took a while. All of it was stuck together with my trusty glue gun and here it is finished but in its raw form:

Front

Side

1 coat of grey automotive primer

2 coats of satin black (also car paint)

Silver (car) paint was then lightly brushed onto the "metal" parts being sure to leave some black showng through

The hoses were then primered, painted black, then added to the mask before getting the same silver treatment. it is now done:)

and now some pics of me wearing it.

I have too much hair! i shall buy a bald cap in the next few days then take another pic of me in a full Bane "ish" outfit using my airsoft gear

thanks for all your comments. i am gonna get a bald cap tomorrow hopefully and do a full costume shot. my friend has asked me to make him one for halloween, so stay tuned for bane mask mkII

I started looking at this thinking "This must have been REALLY quick. It looks crummy." Then I scrolled... and scrolled... and was more impressed with each picture.

Well done!

What did you use for the "netting" in the back?
