TDK Joker props (merged)

Re: TDK Joker props

I have printed some cards on:

Cardstock 100# (from Staples) - Not heavy enough, you can see the image on the other side.

Plaincards.com (Poker Style Coated) - Could be heavier but I cannot see through. Coating effects my laser copier/printer. Paper is perforated into 6 cards per page, (great idea but extremely difficult to line up).

Design / Setup:
I am using the files provided by "paulv70" and Adobe Illustrator.

I wonder if 200# Cover Paper would be any better?

Re: TDK Joker props

I've set mine up in Quark. The #100 I was going to use is a business car paper, You cannot see through it. any 100# cover stock should not be thin enough to see through...

I thought about using a linen but I doubt it will look right.

Re: TDK Joker props

Not sure, we buy it by the skid in 28 x 42" sheets and cut it to page size from there.

Re: TDK Joker props

I believe the Pistol is a modified Glock 17 9mm with Stainless slide and 33 round magazine. The reason I say modified is that its apparently possible to take a stock Semi-Auto Glock and change the sear so that is fires in Auto only. Also the Glock 18c (Matrix 2, Transporter 2) has porting on the slide and barrel and fire mode selector on the left hand side which i didnt notice on the prop.

Looking at the scene again, you may be right. I dont see the selector when he's cocking the gun in the car before the robbery. The only problem I see, is when he shoots the guy in the hospital with just one round from the same gun fitted with a suppressor. You say the mod makes it fire in full auto only. Is it still possible to squeeze off just one round?
I'm not sure what you mean by porting either...all the 18's I've seen look like plain ol' glocks to me. :confused

Anybody who's interested in the poker set with the replica deck of 54 cards, Entertainment earth has them up for pre-order. :cool

Re: TDK Joker props

Well, just got back from Kinkos - with 2 cards made. Only 2 because the guy said it was gonna cost about $1.30 per PAGE and he could only print one side of one card per page. The stuff he printed them on was nice but DAMN! It would cost me like a hundred bucks to do them all! The guy was a real jerk too and any question I asked like "cant you put more than one on a page?" or "can you print back to back?" he would just say NO. I think he purposely did it that way so I wouldnt want them... he seemed to hate me from the second I walked in...

Re: TDK Joker props

I've had no problem lining up two sided files on my laser printer at work... one you figure out the adjustments and compensate for a little movement. Works really well. I set up both sides in one doc (Illustrator), but on two different layers. Hide one one and print, turn over, manual feed, turn other layer on and first off.

Works everytime. Took me about 5-10 minutes to line up perfect.

The cardstock I use is pretty good. I'd be interested in seeing what's available for playing card, slick stock.

We have an automatic round corner cutter as well (mostly for cutting corners on presentation boards) that does a great job!

Re: TDK Joker props

Do all the cards have a rounded corners? I know the evidence bagged card does but the art for the other cards has squared edges... Just curious before I cut these down.

That's porting. Its meant to compensate for the muzzle rise while firing in Full auto. And yeah the single bullet he fired could be done with just a quick trigger tap, but who knows?

Re: TDK Joker props

Well, I've got a super-cool item coming to me in the mail right now, should be here Friday and I'll post pictures.

It's sort of a prop/costume piece: A Joker tie from the company that made them for the film!

(One of 12 put up for sale, I'm told.)

Awesome! Are you gonna use it? :D

Nice! A post of a pic of the pattern would be appreciated, if you don't mind!

Re: TDK Joker props

Here's a picture of the Joker's suit and a closeup of the tie from a display in Hollywood (Arclight Theater- Batsuit, Joker, Batmobile, BatPod and some Joker henchmen masks on display)

Re: TDK Joker props

Yeah, that first one looks damn close. I think the gold colored 'arrows' just need to be flipped and it would be perfect (based on the one tie I've seen in person, pictured above). But, that's probably a detail almost no one would notice either... :lol

Re: Joker TDK props

Anybody know the kind of gun that Joker uses when he's in back of the semi? Not the RPG missle launcher thing, but the handgun that shot like an automatic. I never seen a handgun shoot like that. It was silver on top. I believe it was the first gun he shoots out of the semi trailer.

Does this gun really shoot like this or was it made to shoot like it for effect.

I begin to discuss/explain this pistol on the other TDK Joker thread, post #224.
