TASM2 With a Twist! (Pic Heavy)

Correct, though the colour name on the label has changed. Previously it was "Navy Blue" now its "Navy Blue Shiny" or something like that, but the colours are exactly the same.

Question, where did you get the pattern for the suit? Also the colors on the suit with the puffy paint is a perfect color match, the colors look so good together. Keep up the great work.

Are you gonna glue the lenses to the mask or use magnets? Also, can we get more pics of your lenses? :) Like how it looks in certain angles, and visibility. :)

I know others have said this already but good god you must have some of the steadiest hands in the world! I'm just blown away by how clean the honeycombing is with the puff paint!

Previously mentioned, but I will not be using a faceshell or magnets therefore gluing the eyes directly to the mask. Worked just fine on my TASM1 suit so I dont expect any problems (although these frames were more difficult to curve). I'll take some more of the lenses when I get a chance, but here they are against the painted red and webs of the chest:

I'm probably 2/3 of the way through the legs and it feels like this purgatory is never going to end. Sooooooooo close.

I did also disect one of the shoes, which was time consuming but very successful so I will post some photos of that when I take apart the second one.

Stay Tuned!

Okay, shifting gears here for a minute to talk about shoes. Puff painting is puff painting, and I'm on the home stretch. Looking to be finished by next weekend.

What I have for shoes is Title ankle high boxing shoes. Its kind of a shame too, since I also train boxing I know Title's gear is awesome.

The plan here is to remove the sole in order to insert the upper into the sewn foot and glue the sole to the outside of the foot.

11703358_873945726031062_4821357451629468815_n.jpg

I used a hobby knife to get right into the seam of where the sole and upper meet and cut it away.

It looks really ratty, but all of this will be trimmed and hidden when its ready to get glued to the suit.

I really don't care about the "accurate" pattern on the soles. The TASM1 shoes were far more interesting to me, and a lot easier to achieve. These are fine, and nobody is going to be be looking at the bottom of my feet.

Next update will be another "Spidey Shape" instalment and/or the announcement that I have finished the puff painting phase!

Thanks for checking in!

Must me extremely relieving. You plan to sew it yourself or send it to TrophyWife?

Nay, my friend and fellow cosplayer Maple Bunnie will be helping me with the sewing.

I'll be cranking on with the shoes and the spider, and I will also try to get the shooters done, although I'm not going to stress about getting that done before Fan Expo.

Home Stretch Update!

So with my material off for sewing, I focused on the shoes and the spider. The shoes are easy in comparison.

The spider is made out of latex, and needs to be washed, dried, and painted. I had a couple ideas about how to paint it, but honestly I ended up brushing on a few very thin layers of the puff paint I used on the webs. It will eventually peel off, but the adherence is good enough for everyday wear and tear if its thin enough.

Cutting it out sucks. I used a hobby knife and had to go tiny spot by tiny spot, since the latex will stretch a lot before cutting along the line you want it to. Around the points of the legs and the teeth are the worst.

And against red Under Armour for colour example (not the suit fabric)

And first fitting! These suits are puzzles even with a really great guide, so it required some figuring out with my friend Maple Bunnie and I. It's also a challenge to tailor the proportions to exactly your own shape since even if the pattern is scaled, your shape is unique.

Apologies for poor quality iPhone photos.

The most challenging areas I think are going to be the gloves, the mask, and getting the belt section to sit just right, but I love how its coming together.

Dry fit eye test. I'm going to take a LOT of care with the placement of these, but I wanted to get a sense of how they look on the mask. The mask still needs some tailoring before I'll pull the trigger and glue these down, but you get the idea.

Next fittings will be this weekend when we are likely going to put the finishing touches on, then it will just be gluing the shoes, spider, and eyes!

Suit's all done, Fan Expo Canada is done, and Photoshoot with Meg Super is done.

Full photo set soon!

Great job! Though I don't envy all the time you had to spend painting, it was obviously worth it! Very nice to see a different take on the ASM 2 suit (great photos too!

Quick edit to share this newer pic, which shows the finished texture close up.

Anyone else find it really interesting to wade back through a build thread after a project is complete? Once something is done I think its really easy to forget all the time and energy that went into it. Anyway, thank you everyone for watching and participating along the way. This was one of my most fun suits to do.
