Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

anybody wana help me how to thin down the hip region?? what work out can i do to get thinner hips.?
targeting fat does not work, you can tone an area of muscle if your bf% percentage is low enough but unfortunately the only way to lose the hips is to attack all of it, running, HIT's, weight lifting, Diet diet diet diet. for men the lower part of the stomach/hips and lower back tend to be the hardest to lose, they come off last.
Id recommend the Spartacus workout to anyone wanting to get lean with a total body workout. Note: dont push yourself to hard on these the first few times, I barely made it through the second set my first crack at it

Hello, I thought I'd throw in my two cents...
Ever since probably 4th grade, I've been putting on weight. It started as minor chub, but it grew to the point of borderline obesity. Since my body adjusted due to puberty and such, I didn't look as fat as I actually was. Then, on a whim, I decided to try drinking my daily amount of water-- the eight 8oz's of water -- just to see if I could lose any weight. Surprise! Within 7 months, I dropped 20 pounds of fat.
However, I've always looked at Spider-Man as a sort of role model, due to him being my favorite hero since I was a kid, and now I'm looking at him as a role model physique-wise. Even though I've got 20 lbs of fat gone, I still have a gut, thick thighs, etc., and I'm seeking to rid of them. I'm aiming for a Garfield-like size: skinny, but cut. I'm currently 5'10" - 5'11" and I weigh 164 lbs.

tl;dr: Does anyone know how I can achieve a Garfield-like physique?

Well this is what you do! drink lots of water alot of it! eat lots of fish, nuts, chicken, basically protein! you also wana eat fruit and veggies just not too much fruit but alot of protein, water and greens!! eat a big breakfast! medium size lunch and small dinner do not eat 3 hrs before u sleep and if u r hungry grab an apple or a low carb snack like carrots or celery but thats just diet here is how to get andrew garfield's body now here is andrew garfields work out plan and food plan!!
Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Workout Plan also make sure to do high intensity interval training walk for a minute sprint for 45 seconds or something like that!! dont do straight cardio wont get you anywhere and its boring and wastes your time! BUT do that with weight training and dont make it harder than it actually is.. just dedicate days to doing dumbbells.. or just search up different dumbbell work outs ! its not hard as long as you are dedicated nothing is impossible my friend ! good luck! and post a pic of your current self. and also drink lots of water if i haven't said that enough it really does help!! and dont get rid of sweats soda etc just eat in moderation like once a week.. it doesnt matter as long as u dont over do it! a soda or two a week isnt gonna hurt you! just make sure to eat dont starve your self drink tons of water and with in 3 months you maybe less you will be getting extreme results! heck ! you will be getting extreme results with in 6 weeks as long as you eat good and work hard!! good luck :)

I'd also like to point out that there are several ways to approach the problem, and it depends on your specific situation. The post by spidey135 will work for some, but not necessarily everyone depending on what you want to do.

1. if you are overweight, and want to lose EXTREMELY fast, then you want to do something like Medifast or the 'juice' diet. With those, you can lose as much as 30-50lbs in a single month. That is rapid results.

2. The meal plan spidey mentioned will work also, but will be substantially slower, regardless of your natural metabolism. But it will work. It may take you 6, 8 or more months, but it will work.

With option 1, walk, run, do cardio, and moderate weights, you'll get lean ridiculously fast. It just doesn't provide the kind of energy you would require for doing something crazy like the Insanity workout, P90X or CrossFit, but you get lean fast. Once lean, it is easier to put the weight on the way YOU want to add it.

Benefit of using a juice diet or medifast is it allows you to get rapid nutrients into the body, provides enough nutrition to keep you going while your body massively attacks the fat.

I think 2 is the best course of action, this is not a bash post just providing more feedback for people to make their decisions on getting healthy.

This is good info, the only thing I would recommend is not to lose 50 lbs in a month lol especially if your (overweight), crash dieting is really bad for the body, you have issues with gaining the weight back, crashing your metabolism, skin will become saggy due to rate of which fat and muscle degrade, also a high factor of malnutrition and although I agree, mediafast is a great program basically all it is, is paying some company to prepare per-portioned foods. save the money and learn how to stay dedicated to a balanced diet, plus looking at some of the macros in the meals you are easily going to lose tons of muscle in the process due to the low caloric intake.

juicing/liquid diets are good to shock the body but you should be knowledgeable in your nutrition and what you need before even attempting things like this.

It didnt take 1 day or 1 month to get overweight or to the weight you currently are and it will take more then 1 day or a month to lose. this should become a lifestyle.

If you are (overweight/high bf%) or you bf% is high don't lean out first, attack the weights and use a healthy deficit with you caloric intake, make sure to avoid unhealthy fats, consume 1 gram of protein per lb, get intense with your weights HITS and crossfit. "you cant chisel a pebble" at a higher weight you have all the mass to transform the body into a well sculpted machine, don't pass up the opportunity by getting lean first and then fighting having to consume 3-4k calories a day.

dont stare at the scale, you can be 200 lbs 8% bf and be healthy, losing lbs doesn't necessarily mean losing fat and gettin healthy

Tested jack3d recently and I like the focus I get when lifting helps me bust out that extra set I need.

C4...but I'll probably switch back to something else after I run out

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

Yeah, not really. I honestly feel jittery on it without much of a hard gain in strength. Might be because of my injury, but I just don't get a big pump from it.
if your looking for the focus, energy and pump with out the caffeine jitters give nerocore by muscle tech a try Ive heard awesome reviews on it. I might actually give it a shot after jack3d

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

My all time favorite supplement was Leukic by Muscletech. My muscles felt like marble!

I'll check out the nercore...:thumbsup

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

The only supplements I use are Whey protein (1scoop as a pre-breakfast and 1 scoop after training) and 5g of creatine monohydrate with a black coffee around 45 minutes before heading out to my gym, I can't say I notice anything massively different if/when I forget the creatine (I've always thought the caffeine has made a difference though).

Progress photo 195lbs (still), and I'm guessing around 14% bodyfat: (ignore the strange camera angle, taken with my phone resting on the sink of the bathroom.)

2 years to go until my target deadline! (six pack by 40 years old).

Gotta tell you, I've let myself get no where fast because I'm all caught up on trying to find some perfect routine. For now I'm just going to start this again:
one hundred push ups - welcome

and start doing other upper body exercises like, Dumbbell curls,Crunches/Abs,Tricep Dip,Shoulder Shrugs. I used to do these in the past until I let the wind out of my sails.

I was once told that I shouldn't be doing these, as these are all isolation exercises. That I should only do these to finish?

Well, I do these because I don't have the room, or money for buying a ton of large exercise equipment, like weight benches and huge barbells. Big moves help people get big, was the advice I was given. I don't want to "get big" I want to get in shape and gain some muscle to my structure. Maybe it's a misunderstanding.. but there's a difference between what my goal is and "getting big".

Does anyone have any advice?

I know that the exercises above are all upper body. I'm going to put something together for the lower body too.

I also used to buy Whey protein, but then I heard concerns about it being risky for the liver or something? It's been a while since i've fallen out of the fitness thing.

Pilates and plyometrics sounds like a good route to take...

To 'get in shape' you need cardio, to gain muscle you need heavy lifting, but it depends entirely on your current body size/shape as to what exercises will benefit you most.

If your goal is to loose fat and gain a bit of muscle your probably aware this doesn't happen at the same time, if your naturally heavy set try stripping some fat away with cardio and some basic lifting, but don't go to heavy. Then see where your at after a few months and reevaluate.

If your thin and are looking to gain just a bit of muscle while becoming generally more healthy overall, then do basic lifting with moderate to heavy weights, and again reassess after a few months.

Either way, stick to a routine, consistency is the key, and don't forget the importance of diet and sleep!

When I say basic lifting, this is any routine centred around your classic lifts- bench press, clean and press, deadlifts, squats.
If you only have dumbbells and don't have access to a gym, you can do bench press, clean & press (aka jerk and press) and squats with dumbbells.

These are the 'big' moves, but you won't 'get big' overnight, it takes a lot of time and effort to 'get big' but what you will see is noticeable difference in the amount you can lift. The key here is increasing the weight as often as possible without causing injury.
Once you've built to the size your happy with, keep weights lowish and reps high.

But remember, eating well and getting adequate rest is very important!

Disclaimer:
This post is highly generalised!! Research as much as you can for your own goals, don't take anything as pure gospel.

Also ignore anything that says anything along the lines of "Get ripped in 4 days" or "massive gains just by drinking 1ml of our mega super juice, only £100 for 10ml" etc etc

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Shirts off Challenge continues! RISE OF THE SPIDER-MEN Sept

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but I suggest people watch the program "I want to look like that guy", take it as an informative documentary or purely as motivational. It's about your "average Joe" that takes time out from his usual lifestyle and works towards his goal of a bodybuilder type physique and ends up competing on stage. I think he goes from 27% bodyfat to 7-8% in a reasonably short amount of time. The full version is currently on YouTube (although I imagine it could get taken down).

congrats on the little one!
I found doing callisthenics and cardio with the the little one to be the easiest to schedule time for. I swear by the BOB stroller
pixel.gif It glides smooth, is great for jogging on the street. I also like the baby support carrier slings. I found that Azriel fell asleep in less than 15 minutes, It's nice because you have hands free. I would also very carefully do pull ups and such with him in the sling. Other then that, I feel like it's not much different staying in shape with a child, or without. Keep a good diet, avoid fast food, candy, junk food, and soda, and spend at least 30 minutes a day doing cardio, or muscle weight training.

Oh, and one last tip, If you really feel like time is an issue, then try and make your life the workout, Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park far away etc.
