Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Thanks El Fett!

It would be awesome if losing weight was just as easy to gain, but it's much harder lol :thumbsdown
For me, it's usually the first month or so where I have to keep myself in check before the healthy eating and exercise becomes a habit. Unfortunately, a habit that is quite easy to break out of... *que evil music*
congrats on the 5lbs ijackSparrow! Hit me up if you still want the T.

As for me, I'm down the 2lbs I had gone up but that puts me back at square 1. I really, REALLY need to find the time to work out but with the 5 Spidey suits I'm currently working on, it's been damn near impossible. Got a schedule to keep for everyone's suit! But nobody likes excuses and I'm not hear to give one. Tomorrow I'm working out, and the next day and the next day. Going to WonderCon in 2 weeks and I need to be at least 5 pounds lighter. Let's do this guys!

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

in my opinion gaining weight is just as hard as losing, dieting both ways takes alot of dedication.
My diet right now consists 3,500 calories, I can choose to gain the weight dirty by eating a burger with fries or eat good lean meat and good carbs.
Update is a day late but Ill be updating with a pic sunday, going to be doing double routines all week long

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

So Prom was last week, which led basically the opposite of progress, but I was at a buddy's house afterwards and we may have found a solution to me not having a suit...

Oh god no. Lol, thought you guys might get a kick out of that, and I'll count it as this past weeks progress pic, as I'd would like to stay up to date.

This week, I'm getting back into it seriously and ramping up my workouts. See you on the other side guys!

PS: Anyone have any suggestions on hardcore ab workouts? I've done Ab-ripper x in the past and find it pretty easy, so I'd like to find something better.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Hey guys wanted to stop and say this is like the most motivating thread I've seen so far. This thread is motivating me lose weight for the same reasons all of you are! hope to post pictures up soon and hopefully have a finished spidey suit by then !

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Gerryc's advice is essentially what the nutritionist has had my husband doing since September. He's lost over 12 inches off his waist in that time, and is still going down steadily... and that's without adding any significant amounts of exercise into his program yet. The guy essentially told my husband that underneath his chub, he's got more lean body mass than most body builders he works with and that he's probably been starving his body of protein his whole life.

Will it work for you? Maybe. The point is, if we don't know how to do something we want to do, we do our research and educate ourselves, or go to an expert. Yet when it comes to our bodies, we try to pigeon hole ourselves into 'one size fits all' weight loss plans and then wonder why it doesn't work for us.

My husband and I struggled for YEARS with our weight so now that we've found something that's working for us, it almost feels like we're cheating because it's been almost effortless. However, much like anything else, once you've been educated as to how best to do something, it comes much more easily.

You guys are doing awesome and I'm super-proud of the progress you've all made. Once we reach goal, we're planning on doing more costuming so you'll see some threads from us eventually. :)

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

I've been lurking about this thread for awhile, this is pretty awesome to see everyone and their progress! Good job everyone, seeing how far you all go will be awesome!

Are ladies not allowed to participate in this? (Sure, women won't be going full shirts off but we have bikini's and the like! I might have missed them posting but I did browse through all the pages~)

DON'T SKIP LEG DAY, that's one piece of 'advice' I can throw out there because I won't lie, seeing awesome chest/back/arm muscles paired with some skinny legs is unfortunate.

Everybody (guys and girls) is welcome to participate in this personal/team challenge, share tips, etc right on this thread. I started it to document my personal journey, share and invite others who were about to embark on the same journey so we wouldn't have to do it alone. This thread has been going strong for almost a year now so I think that is amazing. I'm very happy others have been willing to share, encourage and also be willing to hold each other accountable for our progress. This is why the thread works. For example, today is leg day for me (I hate leg day) but your post just made me force myself to not skip it! So every contribution here, helps one and/or all of us :)

Not sure if one exists already, but I would encourage a thread like this for girls costumes too. I bet it would get a lot of traffic, not just from other girls/women but guys too, especially if there are bikinis involved! LOL :) Sorry if that was creepy LOL.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Anyone on here use myfitnesspal app? It's a free app that lets you keep tabs on your calorie intake. It's great. I've used it before and will start using it again. Let me know if you do so I can add you as a friend there and we can share our daily nutrition there too. It's another way to hold myself accountable. Especially when you know others know, you just ate an entire bag of share size m&m's by yourself LOL!

Does it have the ability to calculate calories from home cooked meals? I don't eat out a lot so I don't know how to track my calories most of the time.

Lol when your pictures are on the RPF Facebook page because of this thread. Awesome that this thread and all of us participants are getting recognized!

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Started adding 15-20min of cardio after my weight training sessions. Also decided no more beer for me for awhile :(. Hoping this helps me cut down another few % of body fat (want to hit 5% overall). Might also talk to a friend who use to do body building competitions and get his diet

Lose it! Is a free app that will track both homemade and fast/ processed foods it can also break down the amount of fat, Carbs, protein etc that you have consumed. You can log both the raw or if someone else has made it a generic baseline of the food properties.

So today was just a legs day but I decided to double it up and do a double session, also been fighting a head cold for the last 3 days :( I totally though spring was here with 40 degree weather but then it decided to drop back down to like 2 degrees, Mother Nature playing with your immune system is no fun
Keep it up everyone! :cheers:cheers

So that's it for leg day. Twisted my ankle doing plyo (again). Be careful with those workouts. Goodnight everybody.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

My dog got sprayed by a skunk tonight and now my house smells.

Just needed to share that somewhere.

That's my fault. :D

The accountability factor has leveled-up with this post to more than 17,000 fans. Keep it up, guys (and girls)!

Well, sort of. You can create your own meals and recipes and save them for use another time. As an example I have a home made chili recipe saved on mine, once you've saved the recipe you can just recall it the next time you cook it. You can also save meals if you regularly eat the same thing and recall them easily. The more you use myfitnesspal the quicker it becomes because you can recall the foods that you eat regularly or frequently easily.

I'll stick my picture up although I'm not doing a spiderman or anything, and it's been a long work in progress, steady but consistant 3 workouts a week.

Before & after. I didn't have a decent "before picture" as I doubt I'd have wanted to take a semi naked picture of that before. Wish I had got one now though. Start weight was 219lbs, I dropped down to around 180lbs (pretty much through starvation, doing it wrong) before increasing calories again while weight training, currently at 196lbs.
