Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

Correct. Only for bulking, though. If you're trying to "clean bulk," slap yourself and stop. Unless you're a genetic freak like Bruce Lee or someone like that, then it's damn near impossible. Yes, I know. Your friend's, cousin's, neighbor's cat gave you this routine and nutrition plan and he gained like 2934857 pounds of lean muscle doing P90x and **** like that, but for the rest of the world, that doesn't happen. If it does, it takes years. Multiple of them.

I think i'm one of those genetic freaks like Bruce Lee. I work out 4 times a week and eat clean but still weigh the same which is 145. But crazy thing is i can lift more over time with out gaining weight which is fine by me.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

I am 6'1 and weighed 155 pounds. So I decided to start working out. I ate something every 3 hours and added 3 protein shakes a day. I got up to 190 in 1 year. If I don't always eat like that I lose weight. Stopped lifting for half a year, just started back,,im at 175 pounds

I continue to be amazed at how much this thread has grown. I started it 2 years ago to keep myself motivated and it has grown into a place for Spideys of all sizes to come share goals and encourage each other on. I love it. You are all amazing and I will jump back in to report my progress as well as I try to lose the 15 or so pounds that have creeped up on me due to the stress of changing jobs and being busier, as well as using my off time to work on commissions and side projects. There was an episode of the b!tch in apt 23 where james van der beek aka Dawson starts dating this chick and over the course of a couple weeks he gains way too much weight. Then he describes himself as a "quick-fat" or something to that effect. Well that's pretty much me haha...time to get to it I guess. You guys keep me motivated and I thank all of ya'll sincerely for it. Keep it up champs!

Yeah me too Aron, have always been slim. Have had a 28 - 29 inch waist line since i was 17....now 37 so have always eat properly and exercised regularly so my body just unhales my insanity work outs and changes happen very quickly. But like u its years of hard work and will power to keep it like that.:)

That's more along the line of strength and power training. If you're trying to bulk, look into hypertrophy training. Eat more. Lots more. Add a protein drink and a Snickers bar. Also, the TYPE of workout you do can effect the end result. What's your current programming?

Welcome to the problems of bodybuilding. I used to set 2-3 alarms throughout the night to wake up and drink some shakes to get more calories in.

I guess most people here are more interested in slimming down, though. Boggles my mind at how much cardio you guys do. It's so cray.

I'm one of the lucky ones as it takes me no time to get bsck in shape. My pic is just 3 weeks of Insanity.

You're an ectomorph. I hate you for that ;) Insanity is good for a quick drop in pounds, but how quickly do you gain the weight back after stopping?

I actually gain over half a stonne once i've completed the Insanity programme. All lean muscle though.

Meaning whilst i do the workout my weight increases rather than reduces. Once i stop working out for a while my muscle just reduces and u go back down in weight.

You gain 7 pounds of lean muscle mass while doing an all cardio routine that burns up to 1000cal per workout?

The math doesn't add up.

I follow Bruce Lee's book as well for workouts another reason why i'm like that now. I had a trainer first month i started out at the gym like 2 years ago, they basically told me my body was meant to be lean and not big bulky. Plus being part asian helps out, i could probably get big but would require a lot a lot of eating which i can't do. 4 meals a day is good enough for me.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

Well, evolutionally (yeah, that's my word) speaking, we're all supposed to be lean and not bulky. That's why it's so hard to get big without...pharmacological help. I'm half Chinese, myself. It took years to get where I was when I was bodybuilding.

A lot of Bruce's workouts have been debunked. If you want, I can look at it and recommend some changes for what you're goals are. I'm the Regional Fitness Coordinator for the federal police agency I work for. This is kinda what I do for a living.

Same here!

Every time I come here to check progress on the threads I've subscribed to, this thread takes up all the update spaces!

No doubt the new movie being out is part of the reason many have Spidey on the mind, but it's also nice that so many people of different shapes and sizes are all coming together, sharing their experiences and thoughts and, best of all, ENCOURAGING EACH OTHER!

So many threads like this that I've read end up people just telling each other that they're doing things wrong for this reason or that reason. It's nice the way this one has come along. No one bashes the other person's routine, but feels comfortable offering perspective or advice or suggestions. You know, how it should be! It's great, and I'm looking forward to all the new things I'll be learning and incorporating into my own fitness routines that I get to see on this thread.

Great job, Spidies! :thumbsup

I don't follow everything just a few things, mostly abs work outs like Frog Kicks, don't know the word but you twist your body with your legs in the air while you laying down holding onto something etc. I could do a two finger push up as well haha.

So far i'm good where i'm at i really don't want to be big i'm very tone and lean right now. Just keeping a healthy diet and work out 4 times a week when ever i can. Just don't want to be lazy like i was years ago with no work out at all.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

Question..... how does someone cope with eating plenty of fruits? If I have a small fruit juice not from concentrate in the morning and a piece of fruit in the day. Plus a fat free yoghurt somewhere. I endup breaking my daily sugar intake. I dont always have the juice. But its still the one thing I bust on.
Im on 1200 cal per day at the minute. 500 below required boosting To get rid of fat before I start with a few small weights. I dont wana bulk.

I am losing weight. But need to find better foods then crisp bakes ryvitas bran flakes etc long term. I like them and they work. But theyre still carbs lol.
Then I usually have chiken breast with salad or what ever (sometimes small portion of new potatos) for my dinner.

1200 kcal a day sounds way too low to me. I'm a personal trainer/nutritionist and write meal plans for people all day long and way too many people think that this is an acceptable amount of kcals to consume throughout the day. If you consume too few calories you will create metabolic damage that will make it very difficult to allow your body to efficiently make use of food. I deal with correcting the diets of competitive bodybuilders all too frequently. Majority of my weight loss clients are consuming anywhere from 1900-2300 kcal per day and losing body fat just fine. It's all in choosing the right foods. Don't eat processed crap, eat plenty of veggies, fruit is fine as long as you eat more veggies than fruit, and protein and dietary fat is your friend. I have significantly oversimplified a topic that has decades worth of scientific research behind it, but if you want to get into specifics just PM me.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

What he said.

1200cal a day is good for a woman in her early 20's looking to lose weight. If that's not you, eat more. Carbs are not the enemy. Neither is fat. Neither is weight lifting. You won't bulk. In fact, if you up your cals to normal, safe levels for fat loss and add weight lifting, you'll actually lose fat faster.

I gained over half a stonne but none of it was fat. My muscles just became bigger and more defined.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. Get your Spidey Physique tips on exercise and nutrition here

What is the best way to get rid of fat on stomach? I'm 6'1 and weigh 175pounds. I was 155 but ate alot and worked out. Got to 190 but slacked for 5 months and dropped calories. I can see a four pack but right where my belly button is there is small fat. Can't ever seem to get rid of that spot. Any tips.
