TASM 2-WIP (100% Pics in Last Page)

Re: Amazing Spider Man 2-WIP (Orhardar Pattern-Print Arrived!!!)

That is because there are multiple suits. For the first film there were over 10. And they each cost over $10,000 to build.

I'm aware of that, just not sure which one in the movie they're gonna use on screen. Most likely when there are scenes he's putting on the suit and what not they use the detachable hood just for the iconic mask off and on?

The films conform to the comic book conceit that the mask is removable, so they all have 'reveal' masks and suits built with a cropped neckline for any scene where the character takes off his mask. For any other scene or shot where he is fully suited up, they use the normal "hero" suit, which has an attached mask because it looks and moves better. In this film, the hero suits with attached masks also have a rear neck zipper to make life a little easier for the stuntmen and Andrew in between takes.

That's what I was talking about, I seen both. For scenes with the suit where he removes it and what not they use the suit with the detachable hood, and for just over all useage the suit with the zipper.
What I don't like is the movie lying to us all showing toby/andrew just slip the mask on but what they don't show is they're using a faceshell. xD

It's a movie. The whole thing is a lie--Andrew and Toby can't leap through the air and swing on webs either--even if they had proper webbing the forces involved would rip their arms out of their sockets. It doesn't matter. The point is to make the fantasy work in a smooth and sleek way on screen, in the context of the movie's world. The costume designer's jobs are to make the suit look as best as it can look in each scenario as per the needs of the script. The suit is a fantasy like any other part of the movie. If Andrew's lips would normally show through the mask where it droops against his face, it doesn't matter, he needs to look like Spider-Man when he wears the suit, so they use a faceshell so that the suit looks as best as it can be. If normally there would be a gap on his neck because of the fabric layering over itself, it doesn't matter, it needs to look like a seamless suit, so they build it with an attached mask. The suit needs to look the best that it can look in every scenario. This is how movies work. They're not going to show Andrew taking 20 minutes to struggle with the back zippers while wiggling into the suit either. They are going to show him duck out of sight for a second and then charge on screen in full suited glory, because it makes the story better. The unrealistic suit makes the movie work a little better.

Honestly mate, these things are not real. I thought we went over this when you didn't understand why muscles don't pop through the spandex like the way the comic books are drawn.

I'm aware its all for the per say movie magic and to give the effect and replicate the character. It would be nonsense to sit there and watch Andrew or tobe struggle to put the suit on and put the face shell on because lets face the whole process isn't what it is on the movie as in slip on and off. I agree with all you said it wouldn't make sense for any of that to be put in, its fantasy.
I know they aren't real, for my comment I was just playing around. I know they need to use the face shell for the iconic look also and as for the muscle shading you're correct we did go over it as I didn't know that before you told me. I thought it was as I said suit on body goes through the spandex.

Dat face shell. I WANT that face shell. I can settle with my TJack though. =p

Re: Amazing Spider Man 2-WIP (Orhardar Pattern-87% Done!!!)

Well, if I may write something of my own.
-Update-

My web shooters have arrived! I'm currently at college and will get to see them this weekend since they arrived to my house. Also TJack's ASM 2 shell and LENSES will probably arrive Thursday or Friday so I'll have both things to look forward to this weekend. Right now I'm not sure about the latex spider in the sense that I don't know if I should make an external mold or if I should just pour the latex in the outline I make with the puff paint. So I hope that someone can clear that doubt up for me. Regarding the shoes, I saw a user make his using Title boxing shoes and they came out extremely clean so I may check out that style. (I think it was Crazydog500)

Righteous. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Yep that would be me. I posted a 3 part video on youtube on how i did my whole suit, and title boxing shoes is the way to go. If you are looking for action shots on video like jumping in the air and landing. Then it would kill your feet lol, i damaged my heel at a con doing that and took like a whole 3 weeks to get my heel back to normal.

-Update-

As expected, both the Lens+Face Shell Combo and the Web-Shooters have arrived! Still need to add the little silver part to the shooters but the rest is painted fairly accurately :D As for TJack's face-shell and lenses, I am extremely blown away by the quality! I felt like a little kid on Christmas again and trust me, its been a long time since I felt this way. Normally you have high expectations for something and it comes up short but with these lenses it was the other way around! The visibility on a scale of 1-10 would be around 8 since you can distinguish shapes and faces if you really try. To give a perspective; I had a Spider-Man poster on my wall, I could see the figure and the blue, red and white colors but I couldn't make out the spider on the chest.

Now I just need to make the eyeholes in the mask and finish the back and front spider! This whole build is slowly but surely coming together and I am PUMPED!!! Just need to keep hitting the gym so I can be ready in time for the premier and my Comic Con which is on the 24th and 25th of May. Hope you guys like what you see! (The mask is just the spare I had and not the one I'll use, that's why its not painted)

Re: Amazing Spider Man 2-WIP (Orhardar Pattern-93% Done!!!)

Just wanted help since I ran into a little hiccup with my face shell. It seems that since I live on a tropical island, the heat loosened the magnets on the lenses during the transport to my post office or something. Just wanted to know what type of glue you guys would recommend in order to fix this. I'm sure the problem must've been on my end so I just want to know how to fix it since I don't think it's really hard to fix but just need tips. Here are some pics that show what happened (on both lenses):

The same thing happened with me, only with two magnets. I used a bit of crazy glue (which is pretty heat resistant) and it fixed it fine since the little divets were there for placement still.

Re: Amazing Spider Man 2-WIP (Orhardar Pattern-93% Done!!!)

Yea, probably heat expansion and contraction as it shipped from different climates, sorry to see that happen.

You could also use a good two-part epoxy or JB weld for a bond that's less brittle than superglue.

A two part epoxy seems perfect yeah.
I was going to use epoxy, but didn't feel comfortable with it given the small space I needed it to bond to. Super glue, though brittle has a very lean and thin consistency, which was good for me.
But I'm just not use to the more heavy duty stuff, nor did I feel comfortable risking the use of something I have no experience with.

Re: Amazing Spider Man 2-WIP (Orhardar Pattern-93% Done!!!)

Thanks for the tips guys! I may try to check the epoxy route if it ends up sturdier. (Just have the same hesitation as chaosprince) The only other thing I want to know; should I glue it onto the little remnants of glue that can be seen on my lens? Or should I try to peel off the dried glue remnants and then attempt to attempt the correct placement?

Thanks for the help,

I would leave the ring of cured adhesive in place to help ensure proper positioning. But you can do whatever you'd like. :)

*EDIT* Also yes, try things out on scrap materials first before you commit to using them on your final piece. ;)

As Lunaman may say soon, the best way to figure out if a two part epoxy is the way to go, is to grab it and use it on something else to see how it ends up working.
I was wary to remove the original adhesive and make the placement myself as it was so perfect when I got it.

Edit: Luna beat me to it haha
