T2 Donut head build thread

Re: T2 Donut head

Where did you get the bust itself? Never seen one. Ebay? Any still available?

Your only other post on the rpf is you defending Acidburns recasting of Fetts bust. Not sure anyone here is going to be interested in telling you where to get this one. If you didn't think that was recasting then i assume you will feel the same way about this one. Sorry can't help you.

Re: T2 Donut head

So I can't even make one for myself??????Wow, what's up with that? First off, I don't recast ever. Never have. Is there anything wrong with me buying one, having fun making it, and keeping it? Is that now illegal?

Re: T2 Donut head

id like to show you mine,
but it isnt mine anymore,i sold it! well well..
bought what i believe was the last one in howards shop

Re: T2 Donut head

Hey Swede, this one is not one if howards sculpt. This was cast from an original. Howards is very nice sculpt though and he did a great job .

PF, there were only 20 made and he sold them all in a couple days.

Re: T2 Donut head

On the navy blue police shirt did they sew the flaps on the shoulders down or remove them?

In some parts of the movie it looks like they are not even there.

Re: T2 Donut head

Re: T2 Donut head

cant believe i sold that...
and by the way..why would i lie about buying it from howard?!

Noone was accusing you of lying. The original point of this thread was to have a place to exchange info on the bust we all bought that was molded off an original Stan Winston piece. That is what most of us are building. I think everyone was just making the point that that yours is a fan sculpt and the one we are working on is a copy of the real deal. They are not the same busts. That was all we were saying. Howards is an awesome bust too, no doubt.

Howlrunner, that looks great , thanks for the pics.

I was looking for reference pics for my paintup (mainly, where does the chrome stop and the skintone begin) and found that there are VERY few online. So I went through my books (nothing) and popped in the Ultimate Edition T2 DVD. Here's a few screencaps I took that may be of help to some people.

Sculpting the original bust at SWS:

And finished puppet:

Interestingly, the puppet on-screen appears to have chrome on the face/cheek below the bullet hole, whereas the puppet in the behind the scenes images has skintone in the same place. Most likely it's just the lighting in the movie giving it a chrome appearance, but perhaps the puppet was altered before it was filmed? Both versions/paintjobs have been made in toy form.

I think they chromed the whole rippled area and then painted the skin color in a wash in over the chrome area. That's why it's shinier there and the chrome peaks through the skin color in some areas.

great work mate and a good insight , I just got one of these busts off a customer to paint up and also insert an eye so seeing what you've done will help :)

You found my pics!

I wish that I still lived there so I could get more detailed ones for you guys. I took these while I was still in the industry - I think I was working on Starship Troopers at the time.
