T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

This is based on skynet model, but absolutely everything is changed or remade

I'm in the process of modifying his V2 model, I think the huge cavity under the skull bonnet and the overall design of the parts fitting together is far away from practical.

you did extremely well!

This is roughly how the Foam Skull could have looked if they had placed the top part perfectly on the jaw, instead of how they did it, hiding the lower teeth. Using the M1 scan jaw as an example. It hasn't been properly sized for the Foam Skull jaw, but it works for the visual. Also added in the M1 temple insert just for fun. It had to be scaled up quite a bit to fit.

This is a model by skynet2029. The indentation on the underside of the thigh is outside the square, while all the props I know are inside it. Is there any prop or CGI designed this way? Or it's just a little mistake maybe?

Could be a design choice so they can always identify their sculpt if others try to pass it off as their own.

They often add in oddities... so this could be one of them.

Or could just be a mistake.

Well. Finally managed to fix the foam skull jaw, add teeth and place it correctly. It looks quite a bit different from the M1 jaw, which is too narrow - mostly at the front.

To think my foam skull could have looked like the one on the right if they had just placed the top part of the skull correctly on the jaw.

First I combined all the parts of the skull into one solid mesh, and then made changes. Sometimes I paused, looking at the photo in more detail. Sometimes it seemed that I had finished, but after a while I continued again. And now again it seems to me that it looks cool, but for how long :)

I'm in the process of doing the same and I absolutely fell in love with meshmixer. I cut out the two cavities (chip / under the bonnet), inserted chip cover and bonnet, connected the front skull part, made the whole thing hollow and then remeshed in in blender.

Basically making it the same like the M1 skull kit.

Honestly your modified model looks menacing! (in the positive way!)

I've read through perhaps 10% of this thread here and when looking at the endo arm...these are so inconsistant throughout T2...it's not like I'm used to see props like hero, stunt...in regards to the skull there are certain details which a consistend and are important but at the end of the day I just go for an authentic look but not 100% prop accuracy. As long as I enjoy the piece and looking at it who's gonna see the differences.

how much did you have to scale it up? I wonder how accurate the skynet2029 skull is regarding size.

I'm not certain. For the temples it was uneven - I believe it was 12.5% for the left temple and 17.5% for the right. Can't remember how much I scaled up the jaw. That's the most to scale piece on the M1. Maybe 5-10%.

This was DeltaDesignRus' M1 Thai recast scan which is smaller than the real M1. I think he scaled up his reworked T1 and T2 models which the Skynet2029 is supposedly based on. Unknown how much their skull needs to be scaled up.

Also, the size of my skull have been suggested to be an artifact of the foam making it a little larger than it should be. I have nothing to compare mine to, but it will be interesting to see how it scales to gizmo's T1 pre-production style skull.

Current progress on the RBS-80.

Now I just gotta figure out what the detailing is on the back-end of the rifle behind the crank. It looks like detailing similar to older heavy machine guns like the Vickers, but it isn't exactly that. I'll try and see if I can find better reference of the raised detailing.

I started sculpting an Arnold yesterday. Just got inspired and wanted to practice some more. Not sure what I’ll do with it, but after a few hours I think the rough out is starting to look like him.

I’ve just been on a break from my Endoskeleton… don’t worry.

I am sorry if this was already covered (used the search function but found nothing specific)...

I've read that Radio Shack 12v signal lamp covers are used in various builds...but I couldn't find an exact part number or any info on a good substitute for the Radio Shack cover.

Also, is there any info on the fittings of the hydraulic / water steel flex hoses which connect to the skull?

Sorry, I don't know about those parts. Hope someone can help.

Worked a little more on the RBS-80 rifle. Spent a lot of time matching the crank to the M2 50 Cal, instead of looking at reference from the movie... so there were a few alterations I had to make when I looked at the actual weapon from the movie. Still not certain they use the M2 "arm" section of the crank. It looks more straight in the movie - more like an old automobile crank - but I'll leave it as the M2 "arm" for now.

And I don't know if you are bored from me posting about this, but I finished and fused the new jaw position to the main skull for my revised foam skull model. I really like how it looks now.

I was curious about those too. My skull is just the skull. I suspect it was a more full file and the uploaded one wasn't from the original creator. It has places to attach them, but nothing to print. Either way I wanted to try and get real hoses.

I still find it weird that there is so little info and reference on the RBS-80 rifle. Every other gun in T1 and T2 is well documented, and even fabricated weapons like the T2 endo rifle and the Aliens weapons are well documented. Heck, even the twist bombs Reese use against the Hunter Killer is well referenced and documented.

Why is the RBS-80 so shrouded in mystery or secrecy?
