T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

Being the perfectionist that I am, I will try to recreate the asymmetry as much as possible in the grooves, as they are not all exactly straight and level... as well as how weirdly shaped the curved parts are at the raised center ring - how they are not centered at all. Gonna try and replicate all of those irregularities. :)

I think the cnc guy is also a member here.

I just got into a groove working on the knee and then I got sick again. Sometimes I just can't get a break. Gonna sleep all day and hopefully it's a short one... otherwise... it may take a few days before I get back into gear.

OK gang, re: ports on the top of the skulls, I put this image together (work in progress and can totally be altered) to try and gather images of items that are either confirmed to be the genuine screen used article, or highly likely to have been used in the filming/production where these elements can be seen as clearly as possible. Some screen grabs from the films, some behind the scenes photos, some some are photos of what's been seen out there in the wild today. Of all these items, the Bob Burns is the one I'm most concerned about, but it's in there for now because I had access to it and took clear photos of this particular area. As I said before, it's likely connected to a film skull/mold from T1 or T2.

We could have a possible consistency on T2 rear port covers. Look at the Tomesouke and Lightstorm Entertainment pictures. They are rotated the same.

EDIT: the T2 Licensing Group endo has the same rotation.

Would be cool if we could find more production made skulls and see if the orientation is the same.

Wonder what the rear cover on the intro bust is.

If you don't see a picture up in the quoted text, just click the attachment link and open up the picture in a new window. :)

I’m sure I’ve got a pic of the top of the intro bust. I’ll have to dig for it but I’m sure it has signatures on the top.

These are the ones I have. I am not certain but it appears that the endoskeleton in the T2 Teaser trailer has this same rear port cover, even though it is said to be THE T1. Maybe it lost its original cover?:

I don’t think the T2 teaser rear port is the one from the all-metal intro bust. It looks like a standard T2 rear port to me.

When I zoom in, I see at least a circular ring and 3 small dots/holes in a triangular layout near the outer edge.

And a few frames later… In this frame you can even tell the rotation of the T2 style port cover relative to the other features on the skull like the hex screws and scribed lines.

I don’t think the endoskeleton in the T2 Teaser Trailer is 100% from T1. It looks like they started with either the T1 endo or parts from T1.

And now that I’m looking at it more, I think that this skull:

(which I thought was the original T1 skull) may actually be the T2 Teaser skull instead. A few tells match. It could mean this is when they were first starting to change over to some T2 parts like the rear port cover.

Could be. May explain why the finish isn't as "chromy" as the T1.

Yes, the teaser trailer version has very distinctive tells on the surface. There is a HD 4K version of the trailer on youtube right now that shows everything pretty sharp and clear.

Already found an issue and fixed it. :)

EDIT: Found another issue. Was making the grooves for the other knee part. CRAP. :)
So just imagine the grooves from one side fitting with the other side of the vertical part. Will now remember to label the groove cut-out models according to which leg they are from. :)

Please note that the part below the bottom groove does not appear on the LFS kits, so if anyone wants to take these models and add the T2 knee caps to it, they would get a more accurate SWS T2 knee part. Though, the knee caps being so simple in design... I may be able to do the T2 versions too. There are just some curved areas where the cap connects to the bottom part that will be a little tricky for me.

Got a little further. Only need about 1 more groove at the base piece and then add all the holes and plug holes. I may have to adjust the placement on some of the horizontal bars, but that's easy.

Note the changed center hole on the vertical piece. Similar to the original castings, the center hole and main raised ring around it seems off-center, but the reason is because that hole is in fact dead center to the horizontal base piece, but the vertical piece is off-center - sitting slightly further back.

After this I'll work on the grooves that go across the top of the base piece... and then eventually start working on the vertical piece, which is probably going to be the hardest.

And then after this I have to do all this roughly all over again as the grooves sit differently on the other knee piece.

Enjoy.
