SyFy's Heroes of Cosplay

Yes, lets take the high-road and mock their craft! :p We should all watch tonight's show wearing monocles and top hats.

Wait- Chloe's dad is John Dykstra?!

As in Star Wars John Dykstra ?!

How did no one tell me this before??????

There was an email sent out, you didn't get it? :lol ;) Yes. She is or was dating Chris Hardwick and he mentioned it in an interview (official SW site maybe, can't remember) and that's the only reason I knew.

It's pretty clear that many of these people seem to think the costume contests should be fixed so they win over the better costumes. I mean really, the surprise about the Gears of War and Abomination costume winning? These were FAR superior to the others done in this week's show.

I was all excited to watch Sons of Anarchy premiere tonight but FX is showing the season 4 premiere three times in a ****ing row for some reason so I ended up watching this.

Becki's roommate is so deep undercover in the friendzone that he may never make it out.

Isn't that the truth. My friend who used to cosplay constantly is horrified by the show. They also seem to forget to mention all the 15 year olds who cosplay and make up a large portion of anime cosplayers at least around here. This show is about as real as pam anderson's chest.

Don't you mean as real as Yaya's chest?

Jeez, can we stop with the implant jokes already. There is enough to pick at regarding the show without resorting to that. FWIW I've got friends who'd easily get that look with the right "armature" to support their natural attributes.

And yes, Chloe's dad is John Dykstra, she's done a bit of acting, is dating Chris Hardwick and has a show on the Nerdist network dealing with Cosplay: Just Cos

She did a great job on this episode, her acting was pretty funny and she didn't try to ham up her reason for choosing the character. I think Becky needs a new routine for her comp-skit, besides the "wide-eyed staring back and forth". :p

Chloe comes out smelling like a rose once again.

I'll take inexperience with a truckload of enthusiasm and humility over all the experience in the world and a "need" for the win. Really drives me up the wall when they start with the "I need recognition" stuff.

Just keep your head down and work.

I had people accuse my contest (MegaCon) of being rigged because two from the show won 2nd and 3rd place.

The biggest thing I've heard so far that really grinds my gears is that Yaya Han was acting as a judge for a competition and apparently disqualified a propmaster from ST Voyager for saying his own armor was a "kit" and ineligible craftsmanship award, despite him having made it entirely himself. To add to this, she doesn't consider "armor" as a costume, but only a prop..

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How is armor only a prop? You still have to build it. I think that counts as craftsmanship.

I don't understand how any of them have won anything. The 'Heroes' never have anything that blow me away at all.

This build was featured on last night's episode a bit.

You know, that confused me a bit. That Guyver outfit was friggan awesome. I remember thinking to myself "why didn't The Guyver guy get anything?!"
I still can't get over the fact that, despite costuming being the choice career for the individuals of this show. They still get blown out of the water by hobby costumers. Just goes to show the amount of talent out there is simply awe-inspiring.

I actually liked Jessie's costuming this time around. We get to see that he is capable of much more than repurposing props and costumes. I'd really like to see him step out of his comfort zone and do something that isn't piratey or steampunkish. But then I'm not a huge fan of steampunk, I don't get it. :p
