Supernatural EMF detector

The birthday girl trying it out... It can be programmed for any combination of "ghost detection" sounds, short spikes, full out 5 LED alarms etc.

I'll put up some better photos and video tomorrow.

I know this is late in the discussion, but I just watched S01E16 Shadow and Dean and Sam clearly both have their own EMF meters at this point. Dean's is the one RPFKOV is making, Sam's is radically different and even has all blue LEDs, not red like Dean's.

That crazy EMF seems to be from the very early seasons only. Dean is seen using at also in at least one other episode. It has a camera and video screen. In the episode where Dean is using it, it is shooting out green laser beams!

Madness! It was shining blue lights pretty strongly on the wall when Sam was using it in Shadow.

I'd love to see a flashback episode where John teaches the boys to make their own, awwww.
I guess they scrapped that design. I definitely think of the one you made as the iconic EMF meter.

Thanks. There have been a few variations over the seasons, I decided to make the most current one that Dean uses, the one with the double headphone jack at the back.

:)

Final photos. Video soon.

Still looking for something to use as the "belt clip" back. And a slightly longer antenna.

Oh man! That is so freaking cool!!! :thumbsup Wish I had the skills to build one of those! Fantastic job RPFKOV!!!

I mostly learned the skills "on the job". That's why it took so long.

Now that I have a prototype, I have to try and simplify it and bring the cost of the materials down. Time to learn some more.

:)

This project makes me wish I has taken more then just the basic electronics course in high school. I just can't stop admiring those pics! lol

It's never too late. I learned "on the job" while doing this. Check out Arduinos. They are great for beginners and are a lot of fun. The first tutorial I did for this EMF was blinking one LED. Arduino Blink Tutorial

:)

I will be making 4 more EMFs in the spring. They will go into the Junkyard. For now, I need to work on simplifying the design and getting the cost of materials down.
