Supernatural 1967 Impala Conversion

Well hell, if were all sharing pics I will post some of mine. Its a Caprice but its factory AC and has a few minor rust spots. Original 327 with 23,000 miles and a 400 Trans. It runs but I have been waiting until I can get all of the parts I needed to make it like the shows car. I bought an impala that was on its way to the junk pile as the body and frame was not fixable. I got all of the parts that I needed that were not trashed. Seats, rear bumper, door panels, trim etc.

My wife named her Tiffany for her color, (temp name of course)

I also bought a whole bunch of parts for her and am starting to put it all in now. Once I save up again I will start interior, body and paint but at least I can drive it around until then.

"Tiffany" looks super clean! :thumbsup

Can't wait to see your progress!

Right now I'm working on getting mine running perfect before I can start on the looks!:wacko

Where did you get the majority of your parts from?

Yeah same here about the saving up part... but in the end our cars are going to look incredible!

Any idea where to get the correct interior carpet?

1965 1970 Impala Belair Biscyane Carpice Interior Carpet Set | eBay

Here if you contact them outside of ebay you will have to ask for extra for your door panels. The carpet you need is called Fawn. its molded to the car, but if you tell them you need extra for the door panels they will give you the same kind but free flowing.

a friend of mine has quite a few old cars sitting on his farm..... by quite a few i mean well over a 100 of them.

i wont swear to it, but i think there are a couple 67 impalas up there. if you`re missing any trim pieces i might be able to find them, and the price wouldn`t be outrageous either. i dont get to talk to him too often, but i have two 68 buick skylarks sitting there as well....and i could stop and see if there are any impalas/caprices there

most of the cars are so rotten that all that is really left is stainless trim, and glass. so if youre missing any trim pieces let me know and when i can i will stop there and check it out.

hope i can help.
cheers
Bryan

Thanks Russ!

Yeah "Cross" is a keeper! :cool

AngeliCar sounds badass!

Can't wait to see it finished! Is the paint job the only thing you're changing?

AngeliCar will be staying white. It's on too good a condition to change it. Waste of money.

For that reason, she will be more of an "inspired by" car, as apposed to a straight replica.

- I did put in the spotlights, however to match the white paint work I kept the handles ivory. MetalliCar has black spotlight handles.

- My stereo is a Audiovox Rampage AV-3000. MetalliCar has an AV-2000. The differences are subtle and close enough for me.

- My speakers are Audiovox Rampage 6"x9" for the rear parcel shelf. MetalliCar has circular 6".

- The stereo is only a 2 channel, and I want to utilise both rear speakers, plus the dash speaker, so I've bought an equalizer with 2 channel in/4out and a 4 channel amp. This will give me control over front & back as well as left to right. To keep it consistent, I went with a Audiovox Rampage Amp, and the EQ is also Audiovox from the same era.

- I won't be doing a weapons box in the trunk. I drive my car too much and no room for a spare tyre makes no sense. I would like to build a half box to keep some tools and spare parts secure, but that will be down the ways, if ever. For now my plan is to keep tools & spare parts in the proper show duffel bag (if I ever find one - fingers crossed).

- I won't be changing to the correct wheels and tyres. The wheels are ugly. Always hated them. 17" wheels with slightly less tyre makes the car handle better; and even if I stayed with a 15" wheel, I would never run BFG tyres. Had them on my 1970 Dodge Challenger and they sucked pure arse. I wouldn't give them to an enemy.

- My interior will be slightly different when finished. Firstly, my car is a factory right-hand drive car, so my dash is not the same. I've painted it the same colour, but will leave my dash pad black - for now.

- My door panels will be left black (for now), instead of Lt Buckskin, however I did paint the armrests. I like the contrast. My seats will eventually be done in the proper black tuck & roll finish of the show car, but as of now they're in excellent condition, and I've got things the money is better spent on.

- I did paint the headliner, visors, kick-panels, steering wheel, pillar covers (b & c), as well as the rear parcel shelf in Lt Buckskin (I think the show cars rear shelf is black.)

- I will be changing to black carpet. The show car has tan.

- I won't be dong anything MetalliCar-specific to the engine bay or any of the running gear. I've changed the valve covers so I could alter the PCV system, and went with an aftermarket air cleaner for better performance - but the reason I didn't choose the items the show car uses is because most of them are chrome. I hate chrome in engine bays.

So as you can see, very little of my Impala is actually MetalliCar correct. Other than the fact it's a 1967 Chev Impala Sports Sedan, barely anything else is show accurate - and that's the way I like it. Small details fans of the show will pick up on, and original enough to be all mine :D

Looks incredible! It's unique!:thumbsup

thinking of adding wings? lol that would be killer!:lol

Does anyone know of a 67 impala for sale that at least runs and drives. Doesn't matter about the body. I need a lot of parts and figure it would be cheaper to find a cheap car that runs and switch over parts rather then buy separate.

Any suggestions?:D

Where do you live?

I live in Bend, Oregon.:) I'd love to find one closer to me but if not I can pay to have it shipped from anywhere.

Too cool! Thanks for the info again! :thumbsup

What is free flowing?

What I mean by that is regular carpet. The car itself will have a molded piece that fits the grooves of the car. You will need extra for the bottoms of the door panels.

Photo May 23, 8 53 15 AM.jpg

See the carpet at the bottom of the door that's what I mean.

@5thWinchester your car looked pretty good. What needs to be fixed on it?

-Will

It needs brackets for pretty much everything under the hood. Also too many things to count. Figured if I found a car that ran and drove good for cheap I could swap it out. Also my car has no breaks and needs a new fuel tank and lines for both.:wacko

I'll post a picture later today to show you what I am dealing with. :facepalm

Just stumbled across this. I know my comments aren't of any use, but I had to say that reading through this was really interesting and inspiring - I've wanted to work with an Impala for nearly a decade now and this has given me the drive and footing to give it a shot, and for that I'm thankful. I say this knowing I'll be extremely lucky to even find one suitable, but thank you for giving me that sorely needed kick up the arse to get motivated to get back in the game!

I put together a quick walkthrough on how to read the VIN for your Impala. Included is how to find out what Assembly Plant your car came from. I haven't used the blog for much, but I thought this would be useful information to share with everyone.

Provenance ? Where Did Your Impala Come From? | Extimorous

You're the man Will! I just checked and mine is a 164397J!

That makes me feel a whole lot better about how much work needs to be done to it!

Posting pictures of what I'm dealing with in a few minutes..:wacko

Thanks again Will! Nice hunting skills!:thumbsup
