I still like the suit. Like many others have said, they should have used this pic first.

I truly hope it is an awesome movie.

My gut says it will be meh. Too many villains, other characters, comic book things that don't translate to live action, etc.. Some really cool parts, and some not so cool parts.

Praying I am wrong. The world needs a good Superman movie.

I'm not saying it'll be good or bad, but i think people carry some anti-dceu bias into the thought process.

I actually agree the trailers haven't showed me anything to make me very interested. However i can remember a lot of talk before the first avengers saying 'too many characters', etc. I can remember people saying GOTG didn't have a chance due to too many characters the vast majority of the public had no clue who they were - and I was one of those.

Now, the difference here, at least with the first GOTG trailer, that immediately changed to 'i gotta see this'.

From what i read and what i saw in the first teaser, i kind of a agree it seems like too many people and my first thought is Batman in the 90's jumping the shark adding too many characters post-burton. If a lot of these characters were basically cameo's, it'd have been best to let them be surprises, but we can't do surprises anymore. Free publicity trumps quality and surprise. We have to get a 24+ news cycle over releasing an actor in the flick and who they're playing. It's like the want to start on step 7 and not step 1 of building a universe. And yeah, that's prior DCEU bias talking as they did that before. We shall see I suppose.

Meh. Great casting, but that's all I think it has going for it. Nothing about these trailers is peaking my interest enough to want to see it and it feels like any other generic superhero movie. I give them credit for appearing to approach the material with optimism, which was the greatest failure of the Snyder Superman, even though I think Henry Cavill was a great choice for the role. I still contend that the trailer for Man of Steel was the best Superman movie we've had since the Reeve's films in the 1980's. The film itself? Awful. But the trailer? Excellent!

We really don't need another iteration of Batman, Superman, or Spiderman for at least another decade. They're all great, iconic, and wonderful characters, but it would be nice for superhero films to go on hiatus for a while.

The suit is still hideous and hasn't grown on me at all. The more I see it, the less I like it. Hollywood needs to really pare it back when it comes to these iconic designs. Raimi's Spiderman introduced unnecessarily complicated / textured designs and it's time they get over that aesthetic.

I personally preffer the more utilitarian and textured look over plain spandex in any character. However I really don't care much for superheroes, just hope the movie is good.

Yeah that trailer kinda lost me. Over the top, wild, gratuitous, CGI smash em, and bash em. With an equally wild "camera." Meh.

I think one of the major problems is that everything is so flat and evenly lit, it gives the appearance that everything was shot on green screen and any "shadows" were added later with a drop off the brightness slider.
There is no contrast. It just makes everything look fake and cheap, which takes me out of it and prevents me from suspending disbelief.
Some examples from the trailer.
Lex has a very fake looking blade disc fly past his face to destroy some kind of drone, it explodes millimetres from his face (he doesn't flinch which itself is dumb) but it explodes and there is absolutely no change in brightness on the left side of his face.
It looks terrible.

The stadium fight.
Everything is equally bright and flatly lit.
Even in bright sunlight you would get shadows in certain places.

It seems like Gunn has tried to address the criticism of the Snyder era, where everything was dark, both tonally and visually, by going hyper bright and colourful. Which on some level is fine, but there should be a good middle ground.

I'm also very sceptical that John Murphy can do justice to John Williams' score, if the horrible electric guitar riff in the trailer is any indication.

By contrast John Ottman did a fantastic job on Superman Returns, breathing new life into Williams' iconic theme.

For those going to see it, I hope it turns out to be a good film. Unfortunately it doesn't look like a film I would pay to see in the cinema, Fantastic Four First Steps will have that honour in July.

It's suffering from the lack any true blacks, which Marvel films have suffered from for a while. (With a few exceptions.) And odd choice when you consider that comics use a lot of pure black shadowing.

I haven't seen any Marvel films that looked like this Superman film. Certainly nothing to match this completely flat, everything evenly lit look in the Superman trailer.
