I'm out.
I deal with enough art direction in my real life.
Thanks and good luck.
Chuck...
Adam West IS Batman!
Some people have a latex allergy you know.:lol
hahaha :thumbsup LOVE Adam West. Always wanted to meet him.
As for this forum, I wish you luck. Doesn't sound like I can be a member, Im fat, have a beard....
Too bad. I thought there was a hero in all of us. Only if youre fit apparently. Very sad that I am not included because of my shape and height and weight. It's like high school gym class all over again.
Good luck with your forum!Wish you the best, truly.
There's a reason the LOH has as many members as it does--because it's fun! In fact, that's the main reason a lot of people do costumes. Your forum does not sound like any fun at all or something I would ever, EVER want to be a part of.
Also, it's CHARACTER, not carracter.
It's an interesting concept. I have seen people try it before and fail, so I will be interested to see if you can make it work.
The likely scenario is that you will have a forum made up of maybe 20 people.
Conversation will get boring and eventually the majority of the 20 people will go back to the old forums.
I agree that if you are putting together an event and you need super heroes that you would cast the ones who look the best in the costume and do the characters justice, but at the same time, I feel that people have the right to costume as anything they want and have fun with it.
While you won't see me trying to pull off a character that I don't feel I do justice, there are plenty people out there who may feel differently.
Not only that, but it's all based on an opinion. There are probably some people out there that don't think you do your character(s) justice.
Anyway good luck to you. I have to honestly say that even though there are characters that I feel I can pull off, I don't really have interest in being part of something that is that strict. For me it's about socialization, friends and having a good time.
Zen has a point With the standards the way they are set might give the forum a short shelf life... But then again Gotham Public Works Has been a round for a bit & also had a high standard for there Characters.

Now TMP made a point about Troopers & Vader 501st ect. Now these are real world suits most items are from movie Lineage Or Fan sculpt there are more sources for Star Wars items Vs Hero items.
Muscle suits are like Yamaha Guitars IMO They are ether great or pure carp lol. What I am getting at Is muscle suits are made to fit a certain sized person or are made on a base. So there is no one size fits all OR a decent muscle suit is just as pricey the costume if not more so. Even the muscle suits in films are made to the bodys of the actors and stunt men for a natrual look. And most of us can not affored to commission a suit of that level. But then again its not like I or anyone else couldn't make a home made muscle suit..... with a lot of work lol.
I myself am the size of Ultimate spider man in a movie suit:angel. So I doubt I meet the forum standards level.

Hey, it's your forum, so do what you want. But it does make me sad that if I want to do a Wolverine, that I won't be included. I just don't understand the reasoning behind NOT allowing a person to dress up as Batman because they are 5 foot 3 inches tall.
It just..... seems like such a NON inclusive group. One of the reasons that Wolverine appeals to me so much isn't because he has claws and gets into fights all the time.
Wolverine appeals to me because he desires so much to be a member of the group, yet has so much trouble being a part of the group.... it is how I felt as a teenager.
My point is, one of the reasons Wolvie appeals to me... because I am not muscular I can't be a part of your group and dress up as Wolvie.
Hey, I probably wouldn't even be able to ever finish the costume anyway:lol
i dont see what the big deal is.. if you are a true costume artist and love creating costumes then having standards should give you a challenge. Usually looking at characters i would want to be i try to put myself in there place physically comparing details about me and them.. if i feel like i wont match the part then i dont even attempt it..
i feel like this will strengthen the costuming realm all over the world..
Ok, so one question I have is; what is the positive of joining the site? I mean besides from a 'bragging rights' point of view? Are you guys going to focus on charity work and whatnot? If so, great. If not, whats the point? I mean, isn't costuming a hobby? There's a fine line between hobby and obsession.
I don't wish failure upon you, but where do you think this board is going to get you? As soon as you reject someone, they're just going to go to the LOH where they will be welcomed. Maybe not by everyone, and sure not everybody gets a parade thrown in their honor, but they'll be accepted. And in the end, isn't that what you want?
Again, I don't want this site to fail. Quite the opposite, actually. I want it to strive. There are plenty of geeks out there, and we should encourage all of them to continue their hobby. I'm just saying, there should be some kind of reason for getting into your good graces. Like with the 501st, if they are allowed in, their costumes get seen by the public. Events are set up for them. I think you should give that a shot yourself. Otherwise, people are just going to continue to go where they already fit in.
Good luck with the site!
What I find hilarious is that this board is setting a "standards" for people dressing in superhero costumes? HAHAHA! Its one thing to want to create a "brand" and have followers, but its another thing to assume you're THE character you're dressing up as! There's obsession, and then theres insanity. No one is a superhero, no one is the character their portraying, they're all just damn costumes. Only over the internet do thinks like this fly. Unless anyone of the elite are Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jr, etc, then whos really surpassing who in costuming strengths? No one, because you all/we're all fans.
I would like to see a decent set of IronMan armor is what I would like to see. Something that doesnt look plastic. I want to see a slender male the same build as RDJ in a suit that is %100 accurate. I've never seen that before, so anything else is "just fan made, not good enough".
I also want to see another sales pitch for some muscle suits. I also want to see those muscle suits even further, look good. OR better yet, hit the ****ing gym. Get out from behind the comic book stack, get out from behind the monitor, and hit the gym. Otherwise you're not the part. Right, elites?

On the subject of Wolverine. In the comic's he is 5'3 195 pounds (Without Adamantium skeleton) But in the movie's he is 6'2 220.... That's a foot in height jump. How would someone who wishes to be wolverine be handled?
