There's maybe about ten minutes of "real world" in the whole movie. Both the dancing bordello stuff and all the action were "fantasy."
Indeed, people often complain about sequels and remakes, but when a original movie comes along they won't even give it a chance.
The director's cut is supposed to be 18 minutes longer.
I haven't seen it, and want to, but I'm put off a little by the fantasy world thing. Mind you, I still want all the crazy stuff to happen, but I want the context to be "real", not in someone's mind. When everything in a movie is happening in a dream, then (for me) the drama is removed. "It's just a dream, so who cares?" That's one of the (many) problems I have with The Matrix.
Where are the Spoilers ? My daughter wants to see it and I gotta know all the spoilers before we go to the theater, just in case.
I came home and listened to four of the original versions of the songs on the soundtrack just to get the horrible cover versions (crap remakes) out of my head. As a guy who can often appreciate the need to remake movies if not always the results, I can certainly sympathize right now with all of you who hate remakes.
"Army of Me"(the song they play the first time Baby Doll dances) wasn't a cover, was it? It sounded like the original.
