Studio Scale Tyrell Pyramid

update - Thisproject continues to very slowly progress and morph into , I suppose you could call “a grander scale”.
So I have continued working on the full studio scale in “old school “tradition of model making. You might notice on the left side I working over a photo enlargement of that well known image of the original master pattern printed it out on 1:1 scale on a large format plotter. The model parts, Plastruct angle and channel pretty much match up to the original. It also allows to match up the styrene chips and detailing on the various. This is all dry (no glue) at the moment . Next will be transferring to a sheet of clear acrylic.

Final post relates to the Propstore auction in a few weeks time. I‘m sure any Blade Runner fan have seen the images of that small master pattern piece from the pyramid. It’s one of those things I ve been looking for reference for for years and it’s great to finally see it so clearly. Not sure if I can afford it since auction commision(25%), postage, import duties here to Ireland will make it expensive. So I building my own.

First and foremost, great subject. I can’t wait to see more..... The brass parts are incredible and remind me of the stained glass you would see in a Frank Lloyd Wright home.

Wow, how did i miss this.

Here are some screen caps of the sloped building i did from the Tyrell Corp Building in 2007.

Thanks for all the feedback and encouraging comments folks. I had seen those 3d renders some years back on deviant art ( I think).

Joberg, i want to thank you in particular because I’ve read so much of your posts here and over on Propsummit for years and years. You,ve made a huge contribution to keeping our interest in blade runner (and other classics) alive. I‘m not a member there and only occasional visit the site in the last few years, but they might have an interest in this. There might even be someone there hoarding unpublished images or reference they might be willing to share. I’m always hopeful.

Finally just a note on that master pattern piece on the propstore auction. There are some pieces missing off the center section of the pattern. It was mentioned on Brundelfly’s post that someone had a cast of the piece. I wonder would they post image of the piece ?

Thanks for the praises Pyramidrep(y) I'm sure that some members at Propsummit would be interested! Mark Stetson would be the model/prop maker to contact for pics;)

Pyramidrep, yes those would be mine on DA, i posted them on there and Foundation3D. That's was some time ago and more reference material in the form of the actual prop builders photos have come to light, so my model is in a constant state of update, even today. Hope to see more updates from you on the various pieces.

Facia of the sloped building, still ongoing. Also one of the main greeble on top of the sloped building and also several on the pyramid building.

Thanks a lot joberg, i wish i had more time to crack on with this but other stuff getting in the way. Like most things on this model, it's the small details that really sell it, but they also take the most time. I always thought if you could break down the model into its greeble components and then pass them off to various modelers you would probably end up with the details so much more.

I really decided that if i was going to do it i would do it right and as accurate as possible.

Hi folks. Haven’t been on here for a while, so to update and let this project continues to very slowly progress and morph into , I suppose you could call “a grander scale”.
So I have continued working on the full studio scale in “old school “tradition of model making. You might notice on the left side I working over a photo enlargement of that well known image of the original master pattern. I deformed that image in photoshop over my CAD drawing, returned it back to auto cad and printed it out on 1:1 scale on a large format plotter. The model parts, Plastruct angle and channel pretty much match up to the original. It also allows to match up the styrene chips and detailing on the various. This is all dry (no glue) at the moment . Next will be transferring to a sheet of clear acrylic.
I would love to get some straight full high res pictures of these details.
