Studio Scale TIE Fighter

As for the cockpit dash (front through the window) I would say about 94.5 % is correct. Big finds there.
As for the rest of the interior I did manage to find the correct ceiling (middle) and those four hanging pieces towards the window front. Also a
few bits on the dash top.
Then the pictures got blurry. :(

Thank you all for the kind words on the master build. (I hope the legs weren't too short on this one) :)

Good job John, you found more part than me, I only have the schwimwagen chassis and the parts on Kaoru's pics but I wasnt not able to find the other ! Well that's not a big deal for me, my first goal is to find the parts Im missing on the cockpit ball !

I noticed you used a kettenkrad part for the 0 shaped part on the cockpit dash (I also used this one on my scrathbuilt), but I found recently the right part (too late to remove it on mine :cry).

The cockpit ball is a real b$$ch to do, mainly the pylons and the scribbing job ! I had a lot of difficulties to get all that right ! You did it very well, the TIE looks to be an easy design to replicate, but it's more complicated than we could think once we build it :wacko

The new legs look to be correctly sized !

Been looking at this for a while now, and have to say, all snipy comments and past history aside with the guys in this group, all involved deserve a HUGE pat on the back, this is just wonderful work from all of you.
Steve really has it seems, streamlined the way he operates, and the delegations made, are paying off very well, KUDOS to you all, cant wait to see more builds TBH.

Some of you already know about this, but there was a slight hiccup last week on the hero/standard TIE metal armatures....when Steve went to pick them up, they were all made for interceptors. You may or may not know that the interceptor armatures are shorter. The new order for hero/standards has already been placed, finished and are ready to be picked up. So everything is back on schedule. Will update final list as soon as I can. We should be caught up completely this week or early next. :)

so, the newer release Y's have a more accurate cockpit? would one have to replace the entire 'head' to upgrade said cockpit?

I have an original release Y-wing( the unmentionable or, as I like to call it The Fight club Y).

Paul, as I understand it, the Y will be released in either rendition the builder desires, the Gold squadron or the Red Jammer versions. The entire model has been upgraded for these versions but the majority of the upgrades took place within the cockpit assembly. I'm currently awaiting pics of all this stuff so I can be more precise in my description. I'll keep ya posted.

Dave :)

Wow that sounds very cool Dave. I will be waiting to check for the pics and please-please let us know as soon as this can be ordered

I'm pretty sure the entire head got a makeover. There were some scratch parts that got replaced and some dimensions tweaked from what I was told. :)

The entire head has been redone. You will not be able to just put the new cockpit into the older head.

Hey Dave,

Can you give a little insight as to how Steve is going to handle future releases? For instance, is the upcoming Y-wing (or any other upcoming kit for that matter), going to be available long term, or will it be a certain number of initial orders then go away.

I'd definitely love a Y-wing, and a Vader TIE if it is coming, so I am trying to look down the road a bit so I can hopefully have my finances in order, you know??

JL.

None of the releases are limited to my knowledge. Obviously when a mould expires, it would have to go thru remoulding the master castings etc.... which takes a fair amount of time, but no set number as far as I know.

Dave :)

Here's to hoping it's just a cockpit upgrade instead of an entire head replacement

The cockpit upgrade/insert will only work with the new cockpit. The cockpit itself has been made larger. I don't know to what extent exactly John is going too.
It will ultimately comprise of 5 parts, upper and lower hull, cockpit insert (accurate to the heroes), the canopy and firewall. Yes in essence it will be hollow. Two distinct panel detailing (red or gold) will be offered.

A rod (mounting point) will traverse the model incorporating the cockpit itself.

Much more to come:)
