Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

That's awesome! R2 feet are big, too.

And that is good news about the shorter wait times. I really don't want to rankle any feathers. I am all about keeping a higher standard in the models I buy and make.

And of course, I look forward to seeing what you and others do with these new Hero TIE kits.

I'll tell you one thing..
It is relieving to know that the Imperials kept their TIE fleet nice and clean!

I've got an Salzo X-wing basically built but not painted for ages because I need to get my weathering skills up. Just got an old 1978 kit just for practice.

:lol That sounds familiar :lol
The only difference: My build up is made from a CaptCBoards kit.
I have put so much time in it modifying it into Red 3 and making it more accurate that I am now scared to start painting :angel:cry
Still waiting for my Fine Molds 1:48 x-wing kit(s) to get some painting practice.

I know what y'all mean about being thankful the Empire keeps their ships clean... it's the only thing that allowed me to build mine without worrying about my weathering skills being up to par lol.

Wow,

Looks like I’ve missed some stuff this week. Thanks Jason for the heads up, its always refreshing to know we have folks out there ready to comment on how to do a better job. I do appreciate your comments; they have in the past made a difference on how I do business. Thanks a million.

By the way my Son poured the majority of the ESB and ROTJ ATST’s over 100 Satisfied customers many have stated it was the BEST castings they have ever seen.

Also who I farm out projects to is my business. Many of the dealings are through trades so the caster can get a free casting of things. Matter of fact there was only two projects farmed out ever and that was only a portion of the kit. Helped a few resin brothers out. Thanks Mike S.!

Hey Ryan, thanks for the cover man! This Police academy is a mutha! I’ve been staring at the Criminal law stuff for so long my eye’s are bleeding!! Maybe you can grab the resin bottles again when your done with the FTO program..you know its always open to you.

Anyhow back to business at hand…

Guys here is an update on the TIE and Interceptor. The wing is under one side of rubber. Because the jackets are already done I will take the molds to Wyoming this week with my vacuum chamber and pour the back side. Then we will be in full production. The Tie Wing Masters are tip top and ready for clay. I pull the rubber of the hero masters (we found the last part so its 100% complete accurate! (Thanks Dan!) I will try to get at least the FG jackets done tonight so I can pour them with the interceptor. Here are some pics of the first set of 10 of 20 parts..each kit will have a sitting and standing pilot included.
Check the pics out for quality. There will be no problems.

I will be running the TIE’s with the Interceptors. I expect to start having the sets together in about two weeks. Detail sets are done, Hulls are being done this week and the wings are following. This is the most accurate version yet. So those that have waited (who I’ve made contact with) don’t think any more versions will be done, this is as close as you can get.

I know waiting is frustrating. I’ve offered refunds o those that waited but have been told they would rather have the kit. It’s the best one yet both versions! I ordered 10 sets of KOOLSHADE and will be having them dropped shipped to the hero folks. Once the molds are squared away I will get ahead like I did with the AT-ST’s and folks will be able to get them shipped out a day after payment is made.

I tried doing a mass email thing but it doesn’t look like it went through. I will update here on Sundays with pictures. If you want to contact me with question DON’T POST IT IN THE THREAD! I don’t read the RPF Monday through Friday. Shoot me an email sneisen@comcast.net and I will go the Library on Thursday’s so I can check my mail the police department has blocked ALL in and outbound web mail.

Please find a bit more patience and all your TIE dreams will come true! Promise.

Steve

Hey Steve, I'm sending you an e-mail regarding an interceptor and also a new set of standard wing frames and end hubs.

Now get to work on finishing the X-1 so I can replace my inaccurate one :lol

Best of luck with the training and your new career.

Holy Cow, nice castings indeed Steve! I'm so glad that this delay occurred because that last "missing" part was discovered in the midst of all this.......LOL. I'm usually never that fortunate. I also hate retrofitting so this solved a huge problem for me.

Now I'm really really pumped about the X-1!!! I know alot of folks who would kill for this kit. :)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Thanks Steve, I'm getting excited & worried ///that I'm going to weather it :-(.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Steve isn't even casting these - he has said that he has his kid doing the pouring for him - do you know what you are paying for?

So what if his son is doing the castings. I say his son is doing a great job.

I was one of Steve's biggest critics, but seeing how he did things then and how he does things now there has been a great improvement in the kits. especially in the castings. The AT-ST is just fantastic. I wish he was a little faster but since he only has 2 days a week to work on anything it is understandible.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Well, fine with me. You can spend your money on anything you want. I look forward to seeing your build ups. :)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Just out of curiosity, how is the Koolshade cut and attached to the wing frames? I've handled Koolshade before, and it was VERY easy to bend and misshape, and I can't fathom how one cuts it without completely destroying it.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Tin snips. The cut lines get a little crimped, but those get sandwiched/covered over by the wing stars.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Thanks, Jason. Makes sense.

ps - You were on my mind yesterday. Your business card fell out of my wallet when I was paying for groceries. Model Maker, Artist, Smart A$$ :)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Haha, cool! I made new ones recently as the smarta$$ ones are almost gone:

Of course, I added an E11:

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

How is the koolshade physically supposed to be attached to the wing??? Adhesive????

Dave

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

I think Steve recommends hot glue?

I plan to use a two part epoxy when I lasercut my wingstars.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Heh, love the new card, Jason.

Any idea if the Koolshade would be scaled correctly to put into the wingstars of the ltd. edition large winged Hasbro TIE?

I can get a sheet of it for free. There's an abandoned house a mile from me that has a broken screen door with Koolshade. :love

Checkout the thread by imaginager (Allan). He gives a great walk-thru building the wing star with koolshade.
