Stranger Things (Netflix)

I loved season one. It was really the show that kind of turned me on to streaming, as I’d always just been pretty content with cable and HBO.

Season 2 was good, but lacking the charm that made season one so unique.

Season 3 was a drag. Like, it was a chore to watch it, and I honestly don’t remember anything that happened in it.

I’ll watch these last two just to finish it out, unless 4 starts out just terrible.

I agree with the idea that the show may be growing a bit long in the tooth...and I find it hard to believe they’ll capture the way season one made me feel again.

Big fan but was late to the party and binged all 3 seasons fairly quickly a couple (maybe 3 years back). My son turned me onto it.
Pre Pandemic we would go to Halloween Horror nights in Orlando and 2 years in a row the number one attraction was stranger things.

Second year they had it we are in line for Ghostbusters and my son starts hitting my shoulder and saying Dad like a thousand times.
I finally say "What!!!???" probably looking up from the RPF on my phone... lol. and he says "That's Millie Bobby Brown!!!, lets go get a selfie"
I said "son that's a shift change from the haunted house attraction there are like 20 elevens in there"
He said " I am telling you its her"
me "Nope"

Later that night he showed me and Instagram post where she and her siblings had been at Universal and posted a pic from the stranger things house line earlier in the evening . Haven't lived that one down yet.

Looking forward to this season .
You have to be kidding me!!! WOW !!!

Its been a really long time coming..
Milly Billy bob will be 30 by the time this eventually comes out...

Looking forward to it the last three seasons were solid and interesting.

Stranger Things is one of my favorite shows ever and I love all 3 seasons. Really excited for season 4, and I'm happy to see they have a definitive conclusion planned out and they're going to end it on their terms.
I’m really curious to see where they go with season 4

Season 3 left off to me like they could have finished it there, I don’t recall anything that would lead me to think something would continue

Well besides the Russians trying to open the gate again.. so I’m really wondering where this will go

Into the 90s ?

Yeah be interesting especially as the cast are loosing their cute kid Spielberg appeal..
Maybe they'll settle down and get 9 to five jobs..

I'd like them to somehow get Bob back...he was a great guy.

They can't just leave Hopper in the hands of the Russians. He might become a super hero spy and have a fake marriage with a woman who helped create a group of female super assassins.

I adore this show and I'm eagerly waiting for Season 4. In a time where studios are determined to drag on shows forever its refreshing that the creators have an end goal in mind. That's the mark of good writing in my estimation.

I loved season 1 and 2. I enjoyed season 3 but it's self awareness and logic gaps were a challenge at times though overall I still enjoyed it. I have a sneaking suspicion that they only extended the show to 5 seasons because of the unexpected delay due to the pandemic otherwise I think they would have ended things in season 4. If you think about it that 2 year delay really messed everything up for them and the kids grew up too fast. So I think given the scenario they did the best they could having to rewrite things to account for the gap.

I give the Duffer Brothers a lot of credit for having the guts to tell their own story and not mindlessly reboot some old property. In the tradition of Spielberg or Lucas they took the movies and shows that inspired them and created their own story. That's far better than most of their peers.

Even if it's not always as strong as it could be I'm far more forgiving of a show or movie that has the bravery to tell its own original story than to piggy back off past successes or to try and undermine a beloved property by warping it into the image of the current director.

Yeah but before it was revealed he survived I think the series could have ended with 3

Though deep fake was cool.. I don’t want to watch that on a daily basis…
At some point its All we are going to get and when you think about it how often are we already watching CG characters in those Marvel and SW films TV..

Yeah.. I don’t like it though
Yes I agree.. it doesn't trick the eye there is Always however small a tell that we can pick up on..
Although that last Skywalker DF was pretty Amazing but they used such slow movements and speech to avoid motion blur which is when it tells the most.. Daniel Craig in Skyfall Bike scene was atrocious!
The indiana Jones with masks looks a better route but I bet they tinker with it...

You can't Ever beat a practical effect..
They did do a mighty fine shot in Ready Player One with Tge Shining scene but the blood may have been practical effect..

Yeah the deep fake technology is insane but I guess the speech isn’t there yet.. that’s why we got “peaceful” luke mode

You have to start somewhere. If they waiting til the tech was perfect we'd miss out on a helluva lotta good stuff.
