Gonna be honest, it makes me really happy when creatives have the courage to plan something, and then end it. Too often good things are extended for the sake of money, so having a vision that has an ending point and holding to that is admirable.

To be honest, it's probably gone on too long already. I was the biggest fan of season one. Season two was good, but not as good. Season three was iffy and it's been so long since season 3 that I think they're already on borrowed time. This is a show about kids in the 80s. Not only are they not kids anymore, by the time a potential season five came out, they'll all be adults, but it won't even be the 80s anymore in-world. It's cool that they have a story to tell, but the magic that was the first season, that's gone. That was 6 years ago. These aren't 12-year old kids anymore. I hope it's good going forward but maybe it's time to pack it in.
I too was disappointed with season3.. I never binged watched season 1 or 2.. I always spaced it out and enjoyed it more

Under ground Russians was little much for me.. and here I am saying that about a show that includes multiple dimensions and giant gut piled monsters..

I enjoyed all 3 seasons, season 3 being my favorite so far! But what does a youngster like me know anyway?
Exactly. I also feel like I can’t fully judge the middle of a story until it’s over. There might be a lot of unappreciated story and character development that’s not realized until you see the pay off.

I was talking to someone about shows like Westworld, where the first season was good but it's been a relentless slide ever since. It's the Heroes effect. The first season was amazing and they spent the rest of the run trying desperately to recapture the magic and never succeeding. I don't think Stranger Things is that bad but maybe it needs to die sooner rather than later. It wasn't their fault, but the wait for season 4 has just been too long. It's time to pack it in.
Big fan but was late to the party and binged all 3 seasons fairly quickly a couple (maybe 3 years back). My son turned me onto it.
Pre Pandemic we would go to Halloween Horror nights in Orlando and 2 years in a row the number one attraction was stranger things.
Second year they had it we are in line for Ghostbusters and my son starts hitting my shoulder and saying Dad like a thousand times.
I finally say "What!!!???" probably looking up from the RPF on my phone... lol. and he says "That's Millie Bobby Brown!!!, lets go get a selfie"
I said "son that's a shift change from the haunted house attraction there are like 20 elevens in there"
He said " I am telling you its her"
me "Nope"
Later that night he showed me and Instagram post where she and her siblings had been at Universal and posted a pic from the stranger things house line earlier in the evening . Haven't lived that one down yet.
Looking forward to this season .

I almost made a Heroes comparison in my post. Stranger Things' subsequent seasons were at least watchable. I bailed on Heroes season 2 on the third episode.

I actually like S2 better than S1 (other than the skippable Pittsburgh episode) because of the character growth. But I was feeling the strain during S3. It was fun, but not quite as well written. It started to become schlock, mixing Red Dawn with The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers with a little bit of Terminator thrown in. It really came to a head for me in the scene where Lucas talks about Coke and New Coke in the context of The Thing From Another World vs. John Carpenter’s The Thing. It was like, yeah, we get it, you love The Thing. We got that from pretty much E1 of S1. You don’t gotta spell it out.
I also completely agree about S4 taking too long, I thought S3 had a decent enough stopping point. Now with the very long wait until S4, and talk of S4 in two parts with another season after just sounds a little exhausting, honestly.

For me, my imagination got the better of me, and season 2 didn't live up to what I imagined and wanted and hoped for. Right from the start I thought they dropped the ball, missed some great opportunities, and it spoiled my enjoyment of the whole thing.
I just binged it and really liked it all. This show has a great soundtrack as well!

I think Stranger Things runs a real risk of being repetitive, or at least even moreso than it already has. Also, as more things happen, it gets harder and harder to believe all these things can just fly under the radar of the Hawkins townsfolk and the wide world. I love the show but I am glad they are indeed sticking with ending it after 4-5 seasons (5 apparently). A big problem is the downtime between the seasons, as most of the kids are college age now or soon will be. The charm was, in part, the childhood adventure vibes of the early/mid 80s, in the vein of The Goonies or Stand by Me. We're fast moving past that and it isn't slowing down! It's been fun but it's time to wind it down. If we've learned anything in these past few years, it's you can't catch lightning in a bottle twice. Just let it be a show we look fondly back upon for years to come.
