I've bought the humbrol paint to hand paint mine.
I'm looking forward to the hand paint and wouldn't dream of using the stickers.
I'm sure that the sticker set wouldnt fit your cheeks n traps properly any way.
Apparently the curve of a 2p coin is correct for the tube stripes.
Whatever you decide, please continue to pop up your pictures.

As usual, i've got near the finish line and started rushing to get it finished :angry I decided to hand paint the tube stripes, but went for straight over curved (the bucket is more custom now than accurate anyway....plus it's easier to get it looking tidy) . Plus I didi them slightly too small, so had to add an extra couple.

Masked off, outlined with a drawing pen, the hand painted with a Tube of Tesco's Cobalt Blue Acrylic paint that I had lurking in the cupboard. The indents, tears and frown look black in these pics, but they haven't shown properly and are grey (a darker shade than I wanted really, but nowhere near as dark as they look here)

and now on with an acrylic topcoat...

is that you finished? or still tinkering? what are you using for the mic tips? i've been making a master copy of the hovi mix mic tip, hopefully will cast them once i get my silicone and such.

haha...not finished...but I can touch it!! just mic tips to fit, and need to sort lenses (maybe using a green tinted pop/cider bottle) and brow band (expanded neoprene looks the best bet so far), then it's done.

Mics tips are home made bodge job from plastic tubing, cut out rubber grommits, tooth picks and mesh (and look nothing like the hovi mic tips)!

decided this trooper is going to be proper battle-hardened, so have tried weathering accordingly (first ever attempt at that too)!

should be done for the weekend......

looks great, for a first build, paint and weathering attempt it looks pretty bloody amazing. hope this doesn't come off as rude or cheeky but it would be easy to say "ohh but its not screen accurate or the right size, shape and blah blah" but it really looks good, i would be extremely pleased with how its turned out, i fear starting this because of the curves, indents and angles involved but you did it justice and more.

just need to finish it up with a picture of you wearing it, trooping.

congratulations mate! great to see it finished i really like it, the weathering looks very nice too! i may have to experiment

how are you feeling now its all over? happy yet a little sad at the same time? i enjoy the building more than the final result i think yet to have a stormtrooper helmet at the end is an added bonus!

what's next on the build list?

the first photo made me smile... one of the galaxies most feared foes with the washing out in the background hahaa

... i've got one of those blue roundish things too with the plastic chains, they are a pain in the a$$

i look forward to that battery being charged!

yeah, it feels weird. Elated that i've finished it, but strange that i'll be leaving it alone now.

i've already started a scout trooper lid (only just), and what i've learnt from this build will probably cut the build time down considerably! and yeah, those blue things suck

ahhh a scout trooper! a man after my own heart defiantly in my future plans but not for a few builds might pick up that head armature and chavant next
