Stormtrooper Gloves

I understand that black chemical gloves were used for stormtroopers in ANH. Can anyone tell me a source in the UK to get them?

Also were the ANH hand guards stuck on? What about the ESB? Werent these sewn on? Has anyone got any ESB screen grabs to show how they were sewn on?

Look for Black Washing up gloves... Marigold make a heavy duty version which is near on perfect...

As for the other bits.... can't help there sorry...

Tesco do black rubber gloves for about £1.50 which look perfect but they make your hands very very hot, perfect for a mannequin though...

eBay also has loads of different chemical gloves, anything rubber looks pretty authentic. Ebay BIN Link

Both versions were used in ESB.


Here are a couple of pics of my hand guards, they are sewn onto the gloves just like the originals
The originals were sewn in five or seven spots, two holes in each spot.

Some of the ANH hand backs look like they might have been cast in rubber and painted, though it's hard to be certain.

For trooping, I prefer the nomex flight gloves. They look good and a WAY more comfortable than rubber, tho not exactly screen accurate.

I'm keeping my eye out for lined black chemical gloves, I've heard that solves the sweat issue and the look can't be matched with anything other than rubber gloves. There is a thread somewhere here about the rubber hand backs in ANH...

Cool info about the ESB hand plates, I never knew that.
