Stormtrooper armour

1.The drop boxes are made from two pieces each side, one slightly smaller than the other so it fit's inside making a box.

2.I'd say between 10-15mm.

3.My thigh straps have a loop sewn into them at the top to slide my belt through and velcro at the other end to attach the thighs to.

4.Calves are not connected to anything, just resting on my boots :p

oh no... not velcro :p I'm not a big fan of velcro...
Few more questions. I think I almost know everything I need too :D

1. Did you use velcro to connect your bicepts, forearms, and shoulder bells as well? Was that how the originals were connected?

2. In this picture, I dont see a belt buckle or anything... how was it connected?

3. The two long straps connected to the chest plate, and the ab plate... I'm just wondering how that works when you put it on... what are those two metal hook type things. Do you just put your arms throught the loop, and adjust the tightness using the metal things?

4. I noticed in ANH when vader is choking the rebel tward the beggining of the movie. Notice The trooper standing on the far left of the screen. The rivit on the right side of his ab plate looks really big to me for some reason. I thought it was the big round part of a snap... what do you think?

I have two little projects I need to do now... make a backing for my drop boxes and make rubber hand plates... Thanks again for your help

1.Yes I used velcro for connecting all the parts together.I believe velcro was used on the originals and would allow some adjustment for the various size of actors.

2.Maybe the buckle is black or just out of view?

3.I open up my armour so it's hinged from the side, leaving the groin strap fastened, and step into it.Then I close the strap at the opposite side at my waist and snap the shoulder straps under my chest plate. Then I can pull up on the interior staps for a snug fit. Those metal buckles are just what was available to fit the width of elastic I used, and are just used as a regular buckle to thread my staps through.

4.That is a rivet head.I have a hi-res picture of that scene and it's clearly a rivet and not a snap.I've riverted a strap there and glued a snap to the opposite side like what's used under the chest plate.

Thanks so much Paul. I cant think of very many more questions.
I just have three for now.

1. I have an AP suit, but I think parts were cast from a ROTJ suit, is that true? Because the back plate comes as one peice, and you have to cut it. There's not much room for rivits there... what would you reccomend?

2. Do you know a place to get an accurate neckseal?

3. Where did you get all your information on troopers? Are there any good websites?

1.Yes the AP derives from an ROTJ suit.I would seperate the kidney and the butt plate then if you want to rivet the straps on,just drill out the holes near the edges.

2.I made my own neckseal so I cannot comment on any others.

3.I didn't know much about trooper at all until I started sculpting my own suit. You soon pic up details when you make your own and comparing them to screen used armour. There's nothing I know that cannot be found on the net,but mainly I've learned from studying pictures and watching the movies.

What all is different from the ROTJ suit and the ANH suit? They look very similar to me, except for the shoulders, the back, and the edging. Were parts of it cast from the ANH molds? The helmets look alot different too.

Thought of a few more :p

1. Do you know what the neck seals were made out of?

2. Did the stunt troopers even have neck seals?

3. Do you have a picture of where you can see Dengar's strap behind his neck?

Thanks again

1.I think the stunt versions were rubber/silicone and the hero's PVC?Only guessing on these.

2.Yes,stunt's had them.

3.Not to hand, but a quick google search should find one.I did have some, but can't find them :unsure

This may sound like a really dumb question, but what does TK stand for (besides stormtrooper)? Trooper Killer? I feel dumb that I dont know, and am a member of the 501st.

thanks for the info. but I kind of knew most of that. I just wanted to know what the "T" and the "K" stand for. Or is it like the periodic table, and they just have nonsensical letters that mean things... :D

So, so very flippin' sweet my friend. Stormtrooper armor is one of life's few things that make me regret having boobs. :(
I COULD be a girl Stormtrooper, but it's just not the same.

I don't think it really means anything.

Isn't it just from ANH when TK421 is the only stormtrooper to ever be addressed / named in the death star hanger.

Just after Luke and Han have done him in :p

Chris.
