Hi!
As a digital artist I'm on the computer pretty much 24/7, so I've been starting to crave to make something physical by hand!
There's one project I have always wanted to make, but I always felt it was too daunting to attempt. However, I think I feel ready now! (Or at least, my desire to have this made has outgrown my doubts whether I can actually make this)
So basically, I would like to ask your opinion on this project, common pitfalls and some general tips. They would be tremendously appreciated!
Alright, here's the plan:
I plan on making a 1:1 scale replica of the cosmonaut helmet in Derek Stenning's DYSTOPIC series.

My plan is to slush cast it with resin into two pain parts;
-The disk around the neck with the inner half circles on the sides where the outer part and the visor connects to.
-The main dome with the two circles on the side.
This is based on the 3D printed models from Industria Mechanika, where the indented part on the back of the helmet and the ring around the neck are one part, and it connects with the large dome part at the sides.

The size of the entire helmet, including the cylinders on the sides, would be around 3 heads wide and around two heads tall.
I have confidence in my ability to finish this build once I got those two parts casted properly, but building the master and then slush casting it is something I'm completely new with.
I worry this will require a large amount of resin though, is this a valid worry? How much resin would a cast this size require? Or would you guys recommend a different technique?
I would love to have some advice on casting such large shapes, whether you guys would maybe recommend different segments than the two I described, and any other general advice would be greatly appreciated!
Once I feel comfortable to start this endeavor I will definitely start a blog on the process
Thanks!
