Hey Guys, Jeff Stelter here, got a few emails from this post so I thought I would add my info on the piece. This Fertility Idol is rotocast in Smooth On 321 to about a .25" wall thickness. There is indeed a hole in the bottom under the felt that I use to mount the eyes from inside. I create a bit of a socket for them to rest in and then VERY carefully glue them trying not to get any globs that can be seen. I have tried using armature wire to hold them in but it is so tedious I almost end up throwing the Idol across the shop every time they are not straight and true, anyone who has worked with me knows this to be the truth! This Idol was gold chromed using the spray chrome system that everyone but a few ends up quitting because it is so finicky. My vendor just quit himself so now I have no source for plating. I believe it is Phantom Chrome or Cosmic Chrome? This particular Idol after plating was dull coated, then cleaner waxed on the highs to leave the dull in the lows, I did a few glazes, stains and spatters and then finished it with a hairspray and real dust application. It has great weathered temple look, not too weathered and not too clean, my favorite by far. Adam got a great Idol and I really appreciate the positive feedback for sure, after all these years it's nice to not get beaten down on one of my props, maybe times are changing for a positive note.
