Yes as a matter of fact. No worries. I have had a test suit up and there is a surprising amount of flexibility. As for the weight it's around 120 to 150 pounds once its fully complete. Something I've gotten use to over the years. I've made steel suits for 20 years now and worn them. The weight isn't as bad as it sounds. Its displaced over your entire body making it more managible.

Lastknight. No worries I will shoot you a pm about the build after Christmas. I should also be able to send you that pattern soon as well.

I might start a build thread on some of my past suits as well. Such as my samurai suit that is primarily made from authentic 450 year old armour that I had to restore.

could you please show/tell me what you are using to make those smooth 3D rounded curves? And if you have flatpacks that you start with and make 3D, could you please share?

Thanks

Really beautiful work

Thanks!!! I should be getting back into finishing this suit in the next week or two. I plan on redesigning the arms, cod, abs ( flexible ) and possibly the legs. Also the final missing sections.

Thanks for the compliment and interest. I started with robos files I wasn't happy with the final product. So I modified all the patterns except for the shoulder caps those are his exact files. I made my suit essentially like pepakura. The shapes pretty much form themselves. You have to obviously bend the plates into shape but as you are making the pieces align to form everything works out. My chest and back design I free handed based in part on robos design ( sizing of pieces ) but other then that free handed to match sideshows mark iv bust. I hope that answers your question. If not or if you have further questions please ask.

Thanks! It's been a long build tough learning curve and still not finished. I've been very busy and extremely sick lately but I hope to get a chance to work on it soon. Yes there will be more updates and redesigns.

So, Mark 3 legs on a Mark 4 suit?

Re: STEEL IROMAN - heavy update - NEW PHOTOS NEW CHEST & BACK update PAGE # 3 & 4

Yes and no. I am about to start on redoing several sections. I want to redo the arms and legs at the very least. I am going to make the mark 42 in all there glorious details. I decided to go my own way not following a traditional model design. I hopefully will start work on those next week starting with the legs I might include a endo skeleton design that the plating is attached to.

Thanks Murdoch! Paint job is going to be black grey and the detailed steel you see in the actual mark 42 will be clear coated brushed steel but mainly black. I will be posting pics as soon as I get finished with a full leg made from card stock.

So, the primary suit in IM3 is the Mark 42? I thought it was 47.

Still some minor debate but from all information so far the mark 42 is correct. I just regoogled it to make sure. Hope that helps.

It should be a very cool finish when done. I hope to be posting some update photos for everyone next week starting with the legs. I'm just tweaking the final patterns right now. Once I'm satisfied we start. Oh and after everything is done I might work on the mark 42 chest and back as well.
