Stargate Atlantis/SG1 Ancient Interface Device - Build Progress

I liked the look of this little device and it seems like a quick simple build so tonight I got started on the design files and laser cut the crystal and main body in slices. I didn't have any 1.5mm MDF so have had to use 3mm but as a prototype to see if the design looked ok, it worked





The sizes should be pretty close to accurate along with the details. I gave it a quick sand and basic base coat of acrylic. I will be buying thin MDF tomorrow and making a finished vesion that I will be molding to make a nice cold cast version

Yep, I have the ribbon somewhere around the house but haven't found it so far. I will hopefully get the plug made later today

looks pimp dude. nice work. looks as good as those crystals I got off of you. Will pick one of these up too. You should hook up with andy and combine to make some SGU modules like the below. I'd be totally down for a few of those. cast the back piece, cut the crystal and have some gold vinyl cut and you're good to go. I think they have 6 versions of these. Be a sweet and quick project for you. I'd pick up 6 if you made all variants.

Luckily I have a vinyl cutter in my arsenal too Glad you liked the crystals too!

I've found some suitable material and will be cutting it in the morning, its a bit late tonight.

Finally got around to cutting some of the thinner material and made a replacement interface device, this one looks much better!

I have ordered some aluminium powder for the resin but in the meantime I have found my stash of pewter in my workshop and I'm tempted to make a metal version
