Not sure if this is nation-wide or if the store by me was just overstocked, but The Star Wars Vault was 50% at Waldenbooks when I went yesterday.

So if you're interested in getting the Vault, it wouldn't hurt to check your local Waldenbooks.

True. They had the SW plushies at 50% off ($5.00 each), and I bought them all as Chritmas gifts. Yes, the sale has been up for a while. Thay also carry the MR FX sabers.

Cover price is $85.
Half price would be $42.50.

Waldenbooks is owned by Borders now. Most Waldenbooks near me have been converted to "Borders Express".
Anyone else encounter this deal?
I'll have to check in the next few days.

I saw it here in the Tidewater VA area at Greenbrier Mall.

saw it at B&N for 50% then I think you can use the membership for another 10%..even lower.

A guy in my collecting group got a bunch of us one for 9.99..the SFBC was havig a deal and he bought 5..so I jumped on that one..10.00 for an 85.00..super steal!!!!

No, I wouldn't call it a dud. It's like a stroll through my childhood seeing so many of the promo tie-ins, many of which I own or did own, is a blast. It is not a great model reference book, but we have other books for that.

Not a dud, just over-produced more likely... I have had no luck in Buffalo, NY finding it in stock anywhere.

Glad I picked up a copy at half price! It's a really cool book with a lot of interesting and fun inserts.
After I brought it home the other day, my wife said she almost got it for me for Christmas. I told her I'm glad she didn't pay $85 for it. :)

It's not a dud, but it's very very very niche.

Think of Sansweet's earlier book STAR WARS: From Concept To Screen To Collectible (1992), but with printed examples of a lot of the stuff, slipped into envelopes on the pages.

If you were old enough to have encountered some of the paper ephemera from the Original Trilogy... the iron ons, the magazines.. if you were stuck in that time warp of waiting YEARS for the next installment to come out... then this stuff will bring back memories.

Also if you're just fascinated by printed ephemera, with an interest in Star Wars, you'll eat this up. (there are similar books around now for Hanna-Barbera cartoon shows, and others as well). But keep in mind this is just REPROS of the ephemera, not the original stuff... so "collectors" will be turned off.

Star Wars completists will aos have to have this.

But the average Joe? I doubt it. :unsure

Still I got mine half off at B&N, and I'm not regretting it. :D

Just got this off ebay. not what I expected, but still very cool. I guess with a title like the "Vault", I was hoping it was going to be actual props and such from the films. It's more the commercial aspects of the SW phenomenon.

barns and noble had it for 50% off also and with card i got it for $30 and change :lol love it and recomend it for any SW collector

well, my Borders had the sabers a few months back for half off, and i grabbed 2 halves of a maul, to make a full maul FX saber for only 100 bucks total.

I actually got this for Christmas from my girlfriend. As a friend of mine put it: "It's cool to have a girl who even encourages you in your nerdiness!"

Anyway, apart from the very good quality of the book (I found myself "feeling" each page with my hand because the print is so good you can't tell which photos are glued on and which are printed!) what I liked most was the Star Wars radio-play on CD1. I wish I could somehow find the whole of the play somewhere....
