Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

No matter how bad new Star wars content is we can't forget how the franchise is imbedded into our pop culture and daily lives. It will always be here and around for pretty much for ever. Hell the vast majority of theses posts are stating how the ST is crap and will not see ROS in theaters. Yet comeback to these threads to have more to say. Not trying to single anyone it's just the first example to pop in my head, Psab Keel. He has stated his dislike for the ST but we still see him in these threads. We are emotionally connected to the franchise and it says a lot about how well it was done originally.

These Star Wars theads has produced the most replies then any other thread in this section. Star Wars is far from dying regardless of how the ST is performing. Star Wars will always be a part of our daily lives.

Not to throw a brick in that convo...but Carrie Fisher's brother said that Leia is last Jedi in the new movie (Daily Mail. U.K.); blurred it out apparently.

Because its normal for someone to continue to be upset when they see something that they loved and have decades of investment in being made to such a poor standard in a clear cash grab

hell if I’m still bitching about GoT S8 being a dumpster fire after only 7-8 years investment you can bet your dollar I’ll be complaining and offering critique on StarWars for years to come

Well first she needs some sort of training to even be considered a Jedi. That's another missed opportunity with the ST. She carries herself as if she has no force abilities or that she is a Skywalker. They shat on her character HARD.

My point was to show the emotional investment we have in our franchise. Proving Star Wars to be running strong even when the powers at be screw it all up and that it's popularity exceeds DC, Marvel etc. You have helped prove it with your post. Thank you.

I guess this is where I'm different.... I hated season 8 of GOT... and I don't talk about it ever. Just move on. First seasons are great. If there was a season 9, I would still watch... cuz if it's terrible I'll just go "eh... oh well"

I got tired of Walking Dead's misery, so stopped watching... also stopped commenting in threads... move on. Oh well.

It's weird when people come in just to trash something they say they're not gonna watch anyway.

And come on... compared to the original trilogy.... everything has been pretty crappy

Ewoks? The toons? Expanded universe? Prequels... none of those would be good on their own.

That this trilogy is breaking everyone's spirits?? kinda weird.

OK, glad that we have moved on from the topic of the helmeted YouTube armchair critics.

What were we talking about before? I reviewed the totality of all 4,807 posts to reacquaint myself with the overall theme and subject of the thread.

I believe that I’ve boiled it all down to its essence; although, I admit it may be too early in the life of the thread for me to draw any conclusions.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but what I think what everyone is trying to say is—and I know that some of this is only implied and not overtly stated throughout the thread—but bear with me...

New Star Wars and especially Rey suck.

Please, let’s continue the discussion as I feel we are just getting started.

:)

Yeah, it kind of boggles my mind that some people consider Luke to be ruined by the ST, but not the Jedi, or the Force, or Darth Vader, or anything else the prequels did. I always see posts about “the emperor coming back ruins Anakin’s arc because now he sacrificed himself in vain”, and I’m always like, the fact that you consider ROTJ a conclusion to Anakin’s terrible prequel arc and not a great conclusion to Luke’s journey in the OT is worse than the emperor returning and ruining either perspective. Not that I think the emperor returning is good, just as a random example.

Im still ok with emperor returning. I cant seem to figure out how it ruins ROTJ.

The OT is about Luke. It's his journey. Once he learned the truth he set out to save his father and he did just that. The emperor was only a means to help Luke achieve that. Anakin has returned. Emperor returning does not change that Anakin redeemed himself and saved Luke.

I am of belief that emperor is needed at the end because he controlled every event in the saga. How can you close something with out the force reasoning behind it all?

Deplorables for having a different opinion on a fictional character.... hyperbole alarm went off loudly there.

You misunderstand me. I’m fine with disagreeing with a character or saying he/she/it is not interesting (as I’ve done). I’m against directly insulting and criticizing the actor/actress for portraying such character or stating a dissatisfaction.

If John Said I wish I had more scenes with Rose, I would disagree but it’s his right to make is point. If Adam Driver said I wish my character was more powerful and won the last battle, it might not make narrative sense but he is right to say that. To attack the actors for doing their job is deplorable.

One thing I am interested in seeing the result of is a recent Kabuki of Star Wars. Kabuki (and traditional theater in general) is dying due to streaming services and instant media so Kanuki is doing a retelling of Star Wars episode VII in play form.

Seems like a missed opportunity imo since IV to VI is more popular with the older crowd and Vader would look cooler in samurai-esque armor compared to Kylo Ren. It would be an interesting gauge to see how popular the new trilogy is in Japan who tends to be less vocal and thus harder to gauge.

This subject came up when TFA came out, and JJ stated that his back story for Leia was that she chose not to pursue Jedi training and instead concentrated on her leadership role in the New Republic. This latest revelation contradicts that.

Oh lord, oh lord, oh dear lord......

Rey has been created through midiclorians by Palpatine to be the next perfect Sith since Vader failed him.

Rey defeats and almost kills Kylo and takes his place by the Emperor’s side.

Leia kills Rey and takes down the Emperor once and for All.

The rise of Skywalker is Leia, not Rey.

That boy is our last hope...

No, there is another...

There.......is.......anoth.....er......Sky.......Sky.......walk.....er......

Luke was no more a tool in Yoda’s hands than Vader was in the Emperor’s.

Which makes sense now with Hollywoods sudden girl power fixation in several movies.

Leia and Ben open a pastry shop in Batuu, next to the Toydarian shop.

Silly. Rey is invincible. Plus Leia can fly through space. They only brought the Emperor back because they killed off Snoke and Palpatine will get killed off again anyway. I sincerely doubt they would have the good guys lose at the finale.

If anything appears in the Daily Fail then it really must be taken with a truck load of salt. It's not known for printing anything that resembled the truth.
