Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

I've already posted there, and I post in quite a few post release threads without having seen the film/show being discussed.

Y, tho?

Contrasting/differing opinions are fine, but what is there to add to the conversation besides snark if you (general 'you') don't have firsthand knowledge of what's being discussed, nor are you interested enough to even bother watching the film/show? At that point it is just whining.

It's the end of an era. Will this thread be locked tomorrow evening/Friday? Curious to see how many post in the post-release thread, since you know, so many are not gonna see TROS, AT ALL. Like, EVER. That should limit the conversation to people who have actually seen it, no? ;)
I've been waiting two years to not see it. But I will see it, I just won't pay for it.

10, 11, and 12 will be about Rey's kids. Or whichever format they do going forwward.
It's been announced that they are ending the trilogy format, even though Ruin Johnson says he's still working on his trilogy.

I've stated more than once that I do plan on seeing it, and that I have an interest.

When I post/read post-release threads without having seen the film/show it's generally to get other's reactions/reviews and ask questions.

And that's the key. You would have something to add to the conversation, whether you paid or not. But to, for lack of a better term, spam a thread with "I dIdN't SeE iT aNd PrOuD!" posts just doesn't make sense to me.

Well, then in that case, the shoe doesn't fit. I'm specifically talking about people who will not be watching.

It has taken me some time to accept this, but I now see these new set of films as soft reboots. I fought this after TFA as I did not want to admit it, but after TLJ and now ROS leaks, I will NEVER see these as continuations of the other films. In my mind, it all ended with ROTJ. Just my 2 cents and I will watch the ROS most likely, but I am not excited about it.

To be fair I've read and posted in post release threads that convinced me not to see a film (Dark Fate and Joker most recently) but just spamming seems silly. I suppose people seek validation in all sorts of ways.
Either way, I expect some snark in any Star Wars thread.

Sometimes you just have to speak their language.;)

If you are having a dig at me, I was trying to be humorous, but yes, after seeing all the Star Wars films in the cinema multiple times including the Ewok Adventure & The Clone Wars film, I've decided to give this one a miss, I've read all the plot leaks & everything I've read has been confirmed by LFL so far

I'll wait until things die down & see it for free

KK from that article:
"What we've been focused on these last five or six years is finishing that family saga around the Skywalkers,"

As if it was some unfinished story that needed telling rather than an attempt at nostalgia dollars. It's that type of dishonest discussion that makes me not take anything these production people say seriously. DSW didn't have to "finish" a saga. They had every opportunity to tell a SW story completely separate from the Skywalker's but they figured this would be easier money.
If only they had introduced baby Yoda in TFA, he would have melted our hearts from the start. ;)

Not at all. Again, I just don't think the Post-Release thread should be a head count of who didn't see the movie. If people are poking their heads in just to say they didn't watch it and complain about Disney, or call the powers-that-be over LFL silly names, I'd have to wonder why. That said, it absolutely should not be an echo chamber/circle jerk of praise, but I'd hope the dissenting opinions come from people who actually see it. That includes you.

When things die down.

And you can see it for free.

Not so easy, when George wanted 3 more films, and then said 'oh yeah, I'm selling, so someone else can take the heat.'

I completely agree that George "claims" he wanted 3 more films (this may have just been to make SW more relevant for a big sale) but Disney was under no obligation to create a new trilogy attached to the original story. That's on the "new" Lucsafilm, they made that decision. It is "that easy" after you write a 4 billion check.

Exactly. I don't think it was even billed as a "continuation" of it at all? When TFA came out, it was all about the OG characters stepping up to usher in the new ones. There was nothing about sewing up the Skywalker Saga....

Until TLJ screwed the pooch and Solo lost money. Then they needed a hook, and started on that path. Suppose I could be wrong - when is the first public promotion of "ending the Skywalker Saga"?

----------------------

And Disney was under zero obligation continue George's wishes. They certainly had no problem trashing the treatments he sold to them.

You don't get to blame George for this mess, lol.

Seems like some need to exercise their God given right to just ignore stuff. Not even a day in and a call to lock this thread, wow, welcome to 2019. Someone allegedly cast a vote who hadn't seen the film yet? Damn, I guess having your expectations subverted only works in a so called Star Wars movie.
