Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

I'm going to try and answer that.

1) only so much screen time. The film makers have to pick and choose their "battles." In this case they felt they chose the lesser of two evils

2) some fans said they didn't like this in "their" Star Wars

They said it was boring. But now they are seeing that little more political background to your conflict isn't soooo bad.

I know the darth plagueis book confirmed this guy was plaqueis, canon wise is it still plaqueis? Or is this a younger snoke

Good question. I'm not sure if he's named yet or not. It sure wouldn't be hard to retcon something like that. Kinda what they did with Maz and that doll in Anakin's room.

That has been 100% confirmed canon it is a maz doll?

After ep8 I refused to buy anymore books or comics, kept up to date with YouTube channels for canon, and basically don’t give a damn anymore

Could be stretching o make that connection.
One possible answer is that Maz is involved with the Skywalker line in some form, both in the past and future (always wondered how she got that Lightsaber). Perhaps there is a resonance in the force that young Anakin picked up and he felt drawn to that doll due to it's likeness of Maz.
Or, to quote Doc Brown, "On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence"

According to Han Solo she ran the bar on Takodana for a thousand years, too. Neither explain why a slave boy would have a doll of her.

It seems like the maz doll thing is an example of trying too hard to connect dots that don’t need to be connected
Spacers coming and going from both Takodana and Mos Espa. And little Ani needs some toys.

According to The Phantom Menace visual dictionary, Palpatine has a similar figurine. And he's Anakin's "father".......hmmm

It seems weird to manufacture all these retcon connections to the previous films. I always thought including 3PO and R2 in the prequels was a mistake that George should have been talked out of. It just made the SW universe smaller and more difficult to buy into for me. Now some inconsequential prop doll is suddenly significant? This is getting silly.

When I was a kid, I imagined that Stars Wars was actually Artoo and Threepio's story, and my idea for prequels and sequels was their adventures with different owners. I still think it's a better premise than all this convoluted jedi family saviour prophesy nonsense that modern SW fans worship like the gospel.

Im not for connecting every detail to that level as it just muddies the waters further.

Plus while a little mystery is fine, have a number of them is no substitute for a strong story which I feel is lacking with these new episodes.

I'm not emotionally invested in the characters or plot enough to bother seeing the finale.
