Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

Its canon that Palpatine was sending lots of resources out past the Outer Rim. That EASILY explains the SD fleet. This is just a cache that the FO missed/lost/watever. No need for any stupid time travel stuff.

From what I understand, it wasn’t an actual trailer but from what I saw, it still has me excited for the movie.

As far as Rey with the red lightsaber and cloak, I think she took those off Knight of Ren to sneak into someplace. I remember the Return of the Jedi trailer with Luke next to Vader in the elevator, everyone thought Luke switched sides.

I dunno... I was tired of the different/multiblade lightsaber after Maul.... Other than that, I see no reason to be crapping on this trailer...

It's 1:12 of old footage... 45 seconds of new - out of context (unless you know spoilers) footage.

So it LOOKS good to me... can't say anything else... there was no dialogue (other than V.O)

Has anyone seen R2 in any of the Episode 9 photos, posters or teasers? (aside from the retro look back on the earlier films)

I get the feeling he will be involved with Lando and the Falcon part of the story. My only reason for saying that is there is going to be a R2 minifigure in the upcoming Falcon Lego set.

I don't see the point of a lightsaber folding when you can just have the blade extend out the back, a la Maul.

Make it easier and more compact to carry on your belt. Having a two/two and a half foot tube hanging off your belt can't be that practical. A sheath would be better.

Didn't the Zahn books end with Luke fighting his clone? I was never an EU guy...

Wasn't there also a fleet of star destroyers that jumped and were lost in the EU? is that what that is supposed to be?

Maybe I don't want these answered as I haven't read a leak of any kind...

I'm really having a hard time understanding what the point is of Threepio having red eyes.

I'll admit, I'm not thoroughly versed on the canon outside of the films, but I don't recall red eyes being a sign of "evil" droids. Maybe I'm wrong? I dunno, you guys tell me if there was a precedent for this.

Also, we've seen other protocol droids of the exact same style as Threepio. So I don't get it being either a disguise or a sign of an evil version (that maybe isn't even Threepio) -- unless JJ has just decided that we are all too idiotic to understand without some blatant visual reference.

I just can't fathom a good narrative reason for this beyond either the director thinking this looks cool, or thinking that the audience is stupid.

Most likely it is him in some type of memory recovery mode. In the comic one off it shows that droid memory wipes aren't 100%.

I don't see the point of a lightsaber folding when you can just have the blade extend out the back, a la Maul.
Each film tires to do something different with the Lightsaber- Maul had the double ended one, Anakin fought with one in each hand, Grievous had four with a couple of mechanical spinners. Kylo had the cross hilt style and now it seems bad ass Rey has a double bladed one which can unfold into a Maul style if needed.

I'm fine with that- it will be interesting to see how the two parallel blades work in combat.

New twists to fights and new toys for Christmas- all in the fine tradition of the franchise
