What if the Vong were to show up in 9?What are your guys thoughts?
There's some real logic problems going on here.
First you say that Disney only cares about making money. And that they don't care about making good movies. That's kind of an oxymoron. I mean if you put out bad films your not going to make money. If you make good films your going to make money. This isn't rocket science, Bad movie=little money, good movie=lots of money.
Star Wars isn't Fantastic 4 or Spider-Man where the studio spits out a so-so film every once in awhile so they can keep the filming rights.
I think Star Trek has done it twice now, and they are currently backpedaling ST-D to try and regain some of the existing fans.T
Whether you like the direction or not, you have to acknowledge that there is a large (very large) number of people who do not. That is a problem. And you'd think you'd want to keep that from happening, no? The 'new fans' aren't the ones spending big money on Star Wars stuff either. I can't recall any corporation who took that attitude of 'lets blow off the existing customer base to soley focus on the new one'. Especially when the existing one brings in billions a year in merchandise.

Well I feel more confident in 'The Management' now after Taika Waititi's comment about The Mandalorian, he says,"They know that the tone of the first films really should be kind of adhered to. That's what the fans like and you can't really disrespect it"

I find this most illuminating.
I would consider myself as part of the existing customer base. I've been a fan since 97. Never once have I felt that the new management was blowing me off for a new customer base.
