Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

i dont know why but another line of his that always makes me laugh is " you got a boyfriend? a cute boyfriend?" what the heck does that suppose to mean? and why would a guy ask it like that? it just makes me laugh lol

he's pretty clearly first trying to see if there is any competition and THEN trying to find to find out what type of competition.

i could have done with out the recurring 'stop holding my hand!' line....a simple 'follow me' would have worked without trying to show everyone rey is a strong independent person that need no man to save her. even if they tried to do it for a laugh.

and yeah, episode one isn't too bad. it's just a tad LONG. and the space station at the end didn't even get to explode fully. it just kind of aborts midway through. cause it took too long to destroy itself.

yeah i figured that, but its just a weird way of asking? "cute boyfriend" why the heck would a guy say that? now that im single if i ever find a girl ill try that, " got a boyfriend a cute boyfriend?" lol ill let you know how it goes ;)

LOL i laugh every time she says that!! another great part i laugh at is when han and chewie are taking over the falcon and its about to enter the loading dock. finn thinks its the first order and jumps on the center console and puts his hand on her head to push him self up. "get off" something like that, i laugh every time! LOL

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

i didnt not care for the stereotypical "Droid please" line... i could have done with out that.

I've seen several people mention this since the film came out, and I have no idea what you/they are talking about. Stereotypical?

I think the sound design is great of the Star Wars movies. To me, the pod race has some of the best sound. I worked at a theater during ep 1-3. During certain parts of each movie, like the pod race, I'd go behind the screen and sit next to the huge subwoofer. It was crazy sounding.

Nothing will ever be able to touch the OT... it's on sacred ground for many of us, and yes, there are great aspects to the PT and TFA, (I'll leave you all to debate which parts)... but honestly, I'm just hoping to be surprised by SW again. I don't need perfection just something original and inspiring... my hope and optimism that Ep. VIII might actually accomplish that peaked, when Kasdan said Riann is "making his weird thing"... that got my hopes up for something new and surprising.... we shall see

Yeah. The only thing imaginative I saw in epi 7 was the bread.

I want to see new ships and characters that ARENT an homage to Ralph Mcquarrie. I am not impressed by being swept away to concept art that I saw in 1995

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

My kids love the Clone Wars cartoon, maybe the best thing go come out of the prequels.

The overall Prequel story arc I really like: Sideous becomes Chancellor, starts war to justify clone army, uses it to kill Jedi and take Skywalker as his apprentice. Enter Darth Vader.

I want more Darth Vader, and I think with R1 were going to get it!

No one knows how to DESIGN anymore.

either that, or producers tell them to mute the design so it doesn't over shadow the actors....
fun designs went out in the 90s....

It's astonishing how bad it is. I was quite impressed by the concept art I saw for TFA. Then the film looked like they stripped away all of the ideas.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Just don't let that Doug Chiang guy design it. Didn't he do a lot of the prequel designs? I remember an interview with him where he said he always thought the designs for the OT didn't look right. He said something like he wanted the stuff to be more like what he wanted. I think that's why we got all that shiny Flash Gordon looking crap in the prequels.

I'm tired of people wanting to put "their" spin on stuff.

I thought Doung Chaing's work was amazing. They were going for a different look for a more "civilized age" in E1. You can see the linear progression from this style to the OT style throughout the Prequels.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Chang was a god of design. He really showed up the height of the galactic civilizations.

Whoever is doing the stuff right now is just squeezing as much as they can out of the work people already did.

It's like if your favorite band broke up and then reformed with new members. But their first "new" album was reworkings of early studio demos.

I really don't want to see Mcquarrie or Johnson concept art in anything other than coffee table books

I like a lot of Doug's work, it's a pity a lot of the good stuff didn't make it into the films,....Astro, to say you are tired of JJ & RmQ based designs is a real shame & I feel that you may be disappointed with any new Star Wars productions

RMQ & JJ are as essential as John Williams, lightsabers, droids & creatures

There is room for new designs,...but they have to fit into what is 'Star Wars'

Find me where Doug said that? I've seen him praise RMQ's work to no end.

Oh, I don't know where I read it, just some interview somewhere. Take my word for it or not-- your choice.
