Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

You know that if there were internet message boards widely used in for used in for the original films in the 70s and 80s, I doubt they'd get unanimous praise on them. When you have an internet millions can post on you are going to get a lot of negative opinions on any given movie. Even if polls show 85 to 90 percent of people happy with the movie. That 10 or 15 percent will be vocal.

i use this same theory with bad car reviews... the people who buy cars and have 0 problems with them won't take the time to come out and post how good their new purchase was. but the one who has had problems does... giving that brand/model a bad wrap... in the end most of the time these failures are human error and lack of maintenance, so in the end its not actually very fair to the car

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

No the lowest form of intelligence is a lack thereof ... Or having some, but not knowing what to do with it.

or being to afraid to voice an opinion cause it upsets some people ;o). not very smart either.

But, if those opinions annoy people, that is what the ignore feature is for. can't tell you how much nicer it's made posting for me in various places ;o).

that way, people get to do what they want to do, and the people too stoic to allow that to happen can ignore the people too stoic to stop doing what they do and everyone can go on their merry way ;o).
I really don't know why more people don't use it more often.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

I have all the films in various formats but when I pull up my digital library I find myself watching TFA and still finding so much joy in watching these new characters. TFA was an unmitigated succes and Rogue One is possibly going to be even better. Any criticism of the current state of SW and Disney's sheparding of the franchise is spirious at best. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where they take these characters and have a strong sense Ep. VIII will challenge our expectations. The creative team behind TFA has said, on countless occasions, that they played it safe with good cause. They delivered on both studio and fan expectations and now that the franchise is back on solid footing, opportunities are endless. W

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

My only problem with TFA was there wasn't anything new beyond the characters. It was like one of those old EU books you read so that you knew what happened, but you would never read it a second time.

Agreed, I just think perhaps they're rushing it. I am very much looking forward to the abundance of movies, but I think it could sour quickly and easily. Rogue One looks amazing, I'm quite sure VII won't disappoint, and I'm even starting to be hopeful for the Solo movie. As long as they choose quality over quantity, then this is the best time for a star wars fan to be alive.

Boy, you read some quoted texts and wonder who works for the studios here ;o)....j/k

aside from that ;o)..
This description is a pretty good description of MOST of this summers failed blockbusters. TFA's was just the first of blandness.

Once the nolstagia and vibes of hope wore off that maybe we where getting back on track after the CGI overload and bland acting of the prequels...you realize there is nothing new covered in these movies that wets your appetite.

It's all nostalgia bating. maybe that should be a new term.

Problems with the prequels aside, at least we got lots of cool NEW to wet our appetite and make us wonder 'what does THAT do?'

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

I don't care what they use for which character, I just want a new story.

I don't care either, but I don't care about a new story either, what I'm interested more in is a good story, old or new. For the record, I'm one of those people who actually liked TFA, so if Ep VIII as good as or better than TFA then Snoke can be a marionette or a Virtua Fighter I quality CG for all I care.

There are net net far more people who do like TFA then who don't.

You shouldn't have to say "actually liked"... it was a phenomenal, fun flick that in REAL LIFE (not the whiny internet) I know only of TWO guys who didn't like it... and that's a big deal considering I am surrounded by dozens of hardcore nerd film makers every day.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (Pre-release)

Some of the rumors coming out of this film aren't doing it for me. The cat, horse, hunger games planet, and now this... not feeling super confident about it. Obviously, I'll reserve judgement until the film is out, but the initial feeling... I have a bad feeling about this.
