Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Lucas' treatment's had teenagers in it - that was stated by George prior to the latest round of rumors of "kids." (Of course your definition of kid might vary :D ).

#2 No one is saying these "kids" are Han and Leia's -- (they could even be Solo/Skywalkers Grandkids).

Both are too young to be Grandchildren.

Huh? It's been 32 years since RotJ - which could lead to grandchildren going by the idea that Lucas' treatment for VII featured "kids."
Yes but I doubt Disney would condone preteen pregnancy, which would be the only possible way to have children have children the age of Rey and/or Kylo

Not sticky enough to allow undermining it in that way. There's clearly a story to tell with Luke and Leia's mom, but if they're not talking about their mother (their "real mother, I mean," as Luke specifies) the information is dramatically useless - especially the cut to Luke processing that first scrap of who she was. Leia's description of her sadness is also clearly a hint, unknowingly to her, of a woman who lost the love of her life to the Dark Side. I don't think she got that impression of her when she exited the birth canal, and to say she died when Leia was very young becomes a serious understatement.

Padme's death is one of the things I will agree was bad about the Prequels. I thought they should have faked her death and had her in hiding on Alderaan. It would have made sense since Obi Wan goes with Luke to Tatooine. Both are have to go into hiding to watch over the kids. Although, I can't see a mom giving up one of her babies either. If you go by the OT, you're going to end up with a forced split of the twins. So you'd have to go with having Yoda and Obi Wan doing the decidely un-Jedi like thing of lying to Padme about the number of kids she just had and splitting them up without Padme knowing about it.

This isn't about those characters... this is about Lucas' treatment that Kennedy (or someone) said featured kids.

It's the hardest to get around, technically, but it's not the worst misstep by a long shot. What I would have given to see Anakin portrayed as a great, loving, lovable, charismatic man... to see the glory days of his friendship with Obi-Wan, battling against the forces that would take control of their galaxy. I could not have cared less when already-horrible-guy turned even worse. Not much of a fall, and not much to redeem.

Yeah they tried a little at the beginning of ROTS but it was too little too late. I never got the feeling they were great friends or even liked each other that much...

Yeah, they really tried to force feed the audience with him being susceptible to emotions and impulses that foreshadow his inevitable turn to the dark side.
His attitude toward Obi Wan, his cockiness, his disrespect for authority... all made his character extremely unlikeable. We already know he's going to turn, at least make it a more dramatic reveal... not "whoops, I cut off Nick Fury's hand... well, my feet are wet now, might as well jump in and splash around, maybe drown a few kids while I'm at it."

Filmmakers often forget to their detriment how important it is for us to like the protagonists. It doesn't mean they have to be good guys - look at Heat, The Dark Knight, Payback - but it really helps to like 'em. And from everything we knew, Anakin should have been a likable good guy.

This is sci-fi. The writers could easily whip up some malarkey and explain the kids being either generation.

Maybe the kids' or grandkids' growth was artificially sped up. The reason could be something good, bad, or neutral.

Maybe in Star Wars the humans can have kids MUCH later in life because of medical advancements. Etc.

The writers could explain any of this stuff in as little as a few sentences if necessary.

I'm reminded of this

Someone mentioned upthread that Lucas should have actually WATCHED the OT before penning the PT scripts. Would have solved a lot of problems.

No kidding, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels like Lucas wrote the prequels based only on what he remembered about the OT without having rewatched any of it or even bothering to re-read his notes and/or (shooting) scripts.
