Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

...has it been confirmed that Kylo Ren is in fact male?

Well it’s the morning after !!!!
First off the whole live presentation was so enjoyably done and it was great to see some of the old assembled cast and wonderful to hear a few new voices talking so positively and fondly about the Star Wars series.
What came over time and time again was how inclusive the process of making this new film really has been, a real democracy of strong ideas and concepts from people who truly loved the original franchise and want to move the story on. That they have obviously listened to everything many of us have thought and been saying for years has really paid off for they have finally produced something that feels like an authentic sequel. And proof of that was on the stage.
Seeing those R2 builders there was inspiring and listening to theirs, JJs and Kaths sheer enthusiasm for the whole project was hugely encouraging. The new cast and crew were really engaging and obviously bursting with pride with the work done on the film, both in front and behind the cameras. And if I wasn’t originally sold on DB8 I was by the end of his introduction and I felt such a flood of warm affection for R2 and all the old faces when they appeared, something I haven’t felt since…….
And then we hit that trailer!
That opening desert shot in a trembling heat haze ,the hazy view of a ruined Star Destroyer ,its massive bows buried in mountains of sand where it crashed ages past, across which the faint image of a speeder travels on a lonely mission.
They have absolutely nailed the cinematography!!! They restored that magnificent sense of scale and depth that was so often missing from shots in the Prequels. It all felt real and valid and a perfect continuity of the OT. That ,combined with the upgraded VFX , was simply breath taking!! Reflecting glass in the spaceship cockpits, bloody hand prints on helmets, brilliant looking new villians, old favorites it was all there!!
Damn, it struck a nostalgic nerve. My thanks to everyone who has helped to get this film made the way its being done because they are doing a hell of a job! And though I’ve never wanted to wish a way a summer before today Xmas seems a long, long time to go!!

PS : I couldn't figure out why that melted Darth Vader face looked so familar. I don't know if its intentional or not but does anyone remember the morlocks at the end of Rod Taylors 1960's version of "The Time Machine"? I'd post a picture but my internet skills aren't up to it.

He says "my sister has it" slower in ROTJ and his voice is older in the new trailer, although Mark Hamill is doing a great job of sounding like Luke, which sounds silly as he is Luke, but his voice has changed as he has aged, like everyone, but he does a great job sounding like ROTJ Luke.

And you can hear mechanical background when "my son" is said and along with the Vader breath there is a faint echo of each of Luke's words.

Listen carefully and you can hear James Earl Jones "my son"

There is definitely an echoed / additional voice layered in there that repeats all of the dialogue in Luke's voice over, except when he says "I have it". It sounds different than Luke's voice, just a little bit lower. It's definitely clearer for "My Father has it", than "My Sister has it".

My speculation would be that it is Kylo Ren's voice.

My speculation is it's Andy Serkis' character.

Luke's ESB lightsaber with just ONE red button! Why???

Good catch! I missed that entirely. Getting ALL the details right is irrelevant to the movie itself, but it sure is fun to follow what's changed and what's not. Like Milennium Falcon's new cockpit, it looks way different to the original(s). In the trailer we also see what looks like Han Solo's DL-44 blaster in his hand. I can't wait to get a little bit better look at it to see the details. Fascinating stuff!

They mentioned that Rey is a scavenger of ship junkyards. I wonder if the MF somehow found its way into one and she rediscovered it?

Is anybody else as exhausted as I am from all this visual stimulation? ;)

That was my thought. I'm wondering if Han and Chewie have been searching for the MF. And with their weapons drawn... it leads me to believe they are face to face to Rey and Finn.
My theory is that since Han was a general after rotj, he probably sent the falcon to the garage. Generals stay with capital ships.

So I imagine something happens at the beginning where they get their asses kicked and they have to escape in the Falcon

It is very overwhelming. The first teaser was just one shot of stimulant. This has been completely crazy. There is more information and images coming out than I can take in all in one sitting.

That said, keep it coming.

More images of the MF came out when they showed the winner of the Force for Change video, I was able to grab some screen shots. Starkiller and I have been pouring over these new images fo the cockpit!

There are so many details to the trailer that can be examined, layers and layers of details! Like the crashed X-wing in the opening shot. Looking at it really closely, you'll see it's the original model, similar to the ones in the original trilogy. THIS is why I have a lot of faith in this movie.

Still need to see a better resolution image of the TIE fighter in the hangar scene, it seems to have a horizontal slit window instead of the round one we're used to.

Now I really need to get back to work, this this is really distracting...

Maybe the TIE in the hanger is a drone - as you mentioned it doesn't have the traditional front window. However, we could be looking at the back of the TIE with rear gun ports or maybe even a mod'd version. So many questions!
