Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, once he signs on to a project, he is in 100%. I can't see him trying to play the long game and agree to do another film if this one works. I think he would be more inclined to be one and done but to feature prominently, give Solo some meat on his bones as Harrison has always lamented the character lacked, and go out with a bang.

I think that's exactly what is happening. Han will go out with a bang on this one. He wanted it for ROTJ and so did Lawrence Kasdan.Considering Lawrence is back writing and Harrison is signed for one it all adds up.

Death to Han Solo! Long Live Han Solo! :D It will give the film the weight it needs... He's what 72 now? He's be 76 by the time they do Ep8 so I would like to see the character go out in this film... it will be bitter sweet but if they cast the rumored stand alone Han Solo movie perfectly the character will live again anyway.... Still can't believe we are talking about Star Wars Episode 7! never thought it would happen. :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Wait, that's not what they said, they said his characters arc would be similar to that of Luke not that he was Luke's son.

I honestly can't picture him as Luke's son. Boyega doesn't have the looks of a child of mixed parentage. Maybe finding someone who had the looks was much
less a consideration than someone with acting skills, but to my eyes it just isn't working as him being Luke's son...

He's not Luke's son! Is this thing on?!!! ;)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Just looked it up and Lupita Nyong'o is only 9 years younger than Boyega. I may have to rethink my conclusions.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Mark my words, this is how it's gonna be:
Nyong'o and Boyega are Calrissian twins while Ridley is Han's daughter but not Leia's.
Remember, you've read it here first! ;-)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I've speculated to myself that "Calrissian" factored into this somehow...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I can see there not being a new Republic just yet, it could very well take more than 30 years to set up a galactic-scale government. The mandalorian armor could mean any number of things. Female villain sounds great to me. But if they're continuing to tell the Skywalker story in this new trilogy, and it's true Boyega is the main character a la Luke in ANH, that would mean Luke married Lupita Nyong'o and they had John Boyega together. Which would negate Latino Review's previous "report" about Nyong'o playing a Sith. This is why I put zero stock in LR rumors and "reports." They're all a lot of hot air and guesswork (educated guesses, granted, but guesses just the same) and half the time they invalidate themselves when new information comes out. I'd be okay with all this if true, but since it's from LR, I doubt it is.

Like I said before:

The Empire has to be gigantic to have control of a whole universe so thinking they'd just ball up and die after ROTJ is stupid especially as you have many, many like Tarkin I'd bet,and I'm sure you'd have planets if not whole systems who would be sympathetic to them so at the least you're looking at another four-five years of all out war before you can even think of a new republic.

And maybe there's still some hard core pockets after all these years, this isn't just a planet wide conflict this is a whole frickin' UNIVERSE at war.

Then you have the fact that the "Republic" may have been strained as hell during the time of the clone wars and the fact that this thing has stood for gawd knows how many millennium and it's taken down in a few short years by one Sith and his lackey? who just happened to be a former Jedi?

Think maybe some would take the idea of a new republic and Jedi about as well as an acid enema? so maybe it's a three way between the Rebels/Empire/and planets wanting independence?

Basically the SW we get in seven could be one big mess and it's one conflict after another,if the Madalore give a try at carving their own piece of the pie that wouldn't surprise me-hell the Hutts could be at it too.

This actually makes me happy,we may have a real ride for the next three films :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Agreed.

there will be Civil War without end! (as prophesied by Palpatine himself!)

And the Jedi Attempt to rebel had left me scared and deformed.
And the Jedi rebellion has been foiled.
The remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated!
In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, The Republic will be reorganized into the FIRST GALACTIC EMPIRE! FOR A SAFE AND MORE SECURED SOCIETY! (CHEERS FROM THE SENATE FLOOR!)

So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause." ― Padmé .

The general galactic population believed every word Palpatine said... they were not privy to his back handed dealings, or the eventual Skywalker family drama that would unfold.... and Palpatines manipulation and attempt to replace Vader with his son to continue the Sith... All of this took place out of sight and knowledge of the galaxy at large.

The Rebel's major blow to the Empire by destroying both death stars and killing the Emperor only left a vacuum for a power struggle within the Empire... the tides of war shifted but the war didn't end...
Because the Jedi were believed to be a catalyst for the clone wars to begin with, Luke (a "Jedi" who no one but a very few even knew existed) would eventually have to go back into hiding and train others in secret. Jedi weren't seen as heroes by the end of the Clone Wars... even an actual Jedi (Anakin) turned on his own kind and helped to create the Empire so if that Jedi could do such a thing it then proved the Jedi couldn't be trusted. Jedi has a negative connotation even if it was slanderously invented by Palpatine to change the support for their cause.
At the end of Return of the Jedi all anyone knew was the Emperor was killed by the Rebellion during the battle of Endor... would anyone know that a "Jedi" had anything at all to do with the fall of both Vader and Palpatine? (and did Luke do nothing more than allow his father to redeem himself as the Death Star was destined to be blown up with Vader and Palpatine aboard anyway?) Luke kept them busy and distracted and they never sensed the eventual fate of the Death Star....

Only Leia, Han really knew about Luke and the fact that they had a Jedi on their side...

yes! Civil War without end!! :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

He's R2 and Threepio's love child. I read it on Latino Review.

I think Ford is doing this in order to do another Indy movie. He's always said that's his favorite character and previously said he didn't want to play Han again.
