Really? You were that let down by TPM? Sure, it wasn't a great movie, but it is still far better than AotC and RotS. I didn't feel that severe let-down until AotC.The good thing with the new ones is that with the way GL shafted me with TPM my hopes have been lowered. Even if this movie sucks big time there's no way I'm coming out of it feeling worse than I did after seeing the TPM.
You just get quickly glossed over hints of those things - you don't really see Anakin being the great man, the great friend, the great star fighter pilot, all the things Obi-Wan remembers with pride and sadness... you don't see any of that. So naturally... that's the big letdown for me. There is no fall of a great man and the betrayal of everything he stood for, to make Obi-Wan remember him in that

That's not the movies. And I've seen some of the animated series... and it's in my view puke-worthy.Actually, we have that, it's called The Clobe Wars animated series.
Nope; I beat you to it way back in post #284....ST (sequel trilogy - am I the first to use that acronym?).
I think even Star Wars ANH would have bombed if released today. Its a child of its time.
Gawk...agreed. The robes in the PT were stupid. Obi-Wan wears the robes in SW simply because he's been hiding out on Tatooine for 20 years. LOTS of BG people on Tatooine are wearing similar robes - are they all Jedi in hiding too? Why oh why did Lucas decide this was a Jedi's uniform?
Really? Black Jedi robes? That would have been better. And would give more reason for Luke to actually wear it in RotJ.More proof Lucas didn't have things figured out - Luke's outfit from Return was supposed to be the way Jedi dressed - and if you check out some of the "Art of" books for the prequels they show Qui Gon and Obi Wan wearing similar black on black uniforms - before Lucas changed it to brown on brown.

I think that was based off on the Jedi ghost appearances. Especially once Anakin popped up. Until then you could just argue that they showed up with the clothes they died in... but not Anakin. I guess that's where it was decided that that is a standard Jedi robe!?Agreed. That would have been bad ass. I've never liked the standard "Jedi" brown and white color scheme.

OH! Maybe he's wearing it ironically! He's like a hipster from a galaxy far far away...
Even prior to that there's precedence to suggest that brown and tan is the standard, it's what we saw Obi-Wan and Yoda in although their robes were much more robe like going all the way down to their feet instead of just below their waists with pants and boots. But I agree, I liked Luke's black outfit much better, much sleeker and seemed more functional too.
Luke's robes weren't the only aberration, at least in terms of EU canon and the games specifically. In Jedi we see use Luke use a Force choke on the Gammoreans, the only time we ever see a Jedi use it, yet in the games it's always been a Dark Side power either only available to Dark Jedi or at least earning you Dark Side points whenever it's used. But since Luke uses it, is it all that bad? Or maybe that's what Luke brings to the new Jedi, more of a balance; no more brown or brown only and the allowance to use powers like Force chokes.
(and Star Wars canon until Lucas says otherwise)
