Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

ya know IMAX is most likely gonna do some kind of poster or something for the midnight...

I saw Attack of the Clones at an IMAX and they edited out all the mushy badly acted loves scenes and it was a much better film because of it! :D got vertigo during the bounty hunter Zam chase scene on Coruscant and saw up Yoda's nostrils! :lol sadly Rots was not released in IMAX :angry

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I rarely go to theaters(closest is 40 miles one way), but I have seen all the Star Wars film at the same place starting with the original release. Its 150 miles to drive back to my home-town show (it was 75 cents 2nd run, back in my day! :darnkids) but did it for all the prequals and I plan on doing it in 2015 with my daughter. Although by then we will be on the west coast (hopefully) and it will be a 2000 mile commute:lol. Its the same theater they filmed the opening for Siskel & Eberts show.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

yeah, I don't dig IMAX. I don't like playing ping-pong with movies, it's too big! :p

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Man, what an epic venue...

They don't make theaters like that anymore!

The one theater in my area that I'd consider a classic was the "Park", in Kinston, NC. It had red velvet fabric covering the walls inside and some sort of rolling, tufted white fabric lining the ceilings. That was back in the 1970's. It's a relic of history now, but how I did love it back in "the day"... :unsure

I agree... it was overwhelming. the trick is to sit way in the top back and its doable. I have seen a few in IMAX including the matrix reloaded and matrix revolutions, Inception, The Polar Express and Avatar... all worth seeing that big but in the end a nice large stadium seating digital theater is just as enjoyable. :popcorn

when I was a kid (1970's 80's) the one theater in the small town I lived in at the time had velveet fabric wall curtains as well and very high ceilings with elaborate design and balcony seating on each side. It opened in the 1930's but sadly closed in the early 1980's when VHS rentals hit. I loved that theater. Because it was a small town of around 4000 it was only open on the weekends. :lol I think I paid $1.25 to see Star Wars and Empire back in the day.

The last flick I saw in the Park was "Grease" in 1978. I go to work in that town every day and pass by the theater once in a long while. I don't know what goes on in there nowadays (it's long-since not been a theater), but I have some great memories of how it used to be...

And by the way, I don't mean to impose on your privacy but Summerville is a great place! I have family there...:)

Thanks! Cool! ya well, since I list my location I wouldn't say I was being too private about it! :lol Thanks... ya, its a cool town... getting bigger... the Charleston area is booming... traffic sucks... Boeing 787 dreamliner built here now so just that alone (among so much else) has brought in a lot of jobs, businesses and factories ( and way too many people!) :eek Summerville has a nice 16 screen stadium digital theater so I don't have to get on the interstate and go into N. Charleston to hit a decent theater anymore.

My cousin works at the Boeing factory, though I don't think it's a direct employment. It's with some supplier-sort-of-thing, I think! My uncle is German and is with Bosch there. If I'm thinking about the same theater as you, I saw a movie there with Julianne Moore and Alfre Woodard in 2004, "The Forgotten". Weird sort of movie... :lol

I haven't been there in a few years and I think my family there are a bit miffed with me that I haven't been back. I need to reconnect with them, I think...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

And one of my favorite spots when I go is the Yorktown in Charleston. I could get lost there for days! :p

But I think I've hijacked this thread enough... :)

hahaha! yes, well, since it is hijacked I may as well add I used to work on the Yorktown back in the late 80's early 90's when the public radio station was on board in the pry fly overlooking the flight deck. it has since been moved to the college of charleston by the mid 90's it is a fun ship to explore for sure...

if you find yourself visiting I am only 3 miles from that theater. you can come by and see my Artoo. I am a member of the R2 Builder's club and currently working on my second one! :cool

Charleston>Summerville

Lol

Just kidding. I'm originally from Charlotte, NC but I have lived all over the US. The whole planet is awesome in my opinion.

Lining up for Episode VII will heal all the wounds of the prequel trilogy.

Lets just hope Epidode VII doesn't create new wounds.

Lol

not from my point of view! :D I am a delivery driver for a Charleston print shop... I see way too much of the tri county area... Summerville is my hideout! :D

Yes, I think in a couple fo years (when this thread is around 35000 posts) we will all be either crying together or rejoincing together... either way we will find something to talk about as far as SW goes! :lol And even if it does suck we will still be building the props and costumes... look how many Clone troopers there are! :D

Thank you for the invitation!! :)

The theater sounds like a must-see and the Artoo as well!

I hope to find myself in Summerville again sometime soon, and when I do I will surely look you up!

Thanks, bro... :cheers

:lol:lol Charlotte is a whole 'nother animal...:wacko

I'm thinking that Episode VII is the one thing we've been looking for since 1983 that the prequels didn't provide for. At least, that's what I'm hoping...:unsure:lol

Well, just having a new writer and director gives me hope. I never thought I'd see the day so just this alone makes me giddy with Star Wars pleasure!
