If if you're not expecting an honest discussion, maybe just don't bring it up anymore. I think that would be a win/win for all of us.
I wouldn't go into these discussions if I didn't think it meant something. This topic of female representation is very important for me personally because when the only important female character in the prequels dies that way, what else is there to fall back on? Leia? Well, as everyone pretty much agrees "It wasn't ever about Leia" so we have to reduce her to role of support. She can be 'a' hero, but not 'the' hero. And what ever female presence there is elsewhere, they're hardly worth the attention of having their names said aloud. In Return of the Jedi when the Rebels meet for the final assault, Admiral Akbar is introduced by name, General Madine is introduced by name, but not Mon Mothma is not. The leader of the Rebel Alliance who we meet for the first time... and we don't even learn her name. And looking at the old EU and the new EU, there really is no female Luke Skywalker equivalent who comes off as the genuine leading character. Even Ahsoka, despite being one of the best things to happen in Star Wars since KOTOR isn't going to be taking the spotlight away from Kanan or Ezra, because Star Wars Rebels is their story.
