Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The could do away with the numbers if it was a complete new series, with new characters. I'd say since Luke, Leia, and Han are supposedly back, you could say it's a continuation of that arc. So I'd say they should keep it.
I apologize, my post wasn't all that clear - I don't want or expect them to get rid of the numbers - but perhaps have them not as prominent, ala the OT.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Can't see that being the logo... they would then have to work out 8TAR WARS and STA9 WARS... seems unlikely...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I think they will keep with the Roman Numeral's for the main titles, I think is is just for Ep. VII as a "7" lends itself to that little slight of hand for the "T".

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Also keep in mind the the character(s) could be only half human and half of any of the different spieces in the Star Wars universe.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I love it.

Here's a question - the OT is mostly known by their names. The Prequels seem to be known mostly by "Episode Number." This new logo - if it is legit, lends itself to Star Wars 7; not Episode VII/7. Is is possible that they're going to push this new one as more of a title, rather than "Star Wars: Episode VII"? Will there be less emphasis on Episode and/or VII?

Do we as fans have preference if this is known as "eventual movie title" (ala Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi) over "Episode VII"?

I know it's not that big a deal, we just want a good movie. But, curiosity has the best of me.

No preference at all, I use all sorts of "titles" TESB, EP5, Empire, Episode 5...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'd swear I saw that 7 logo last year when they announced 7-9 and LFL sale. Thought it was fan made as well. Not that they couldn't still use it, and it'd be a great teaser logo.

As of the PT/OT i think it goes back to how they did it. During the releases the OT was never referred to by number. It was SW, ST:ESB, and SW:ROTJ. Come '99 it was SW:E1:TPM etc...i think it likely stemmed from the fact they wanted to make it abundantly clear these were prequels not sequels. I don't even know if the term prequel existed in '77.

um..... "ST"????? :unsure
:lol

You mean "SW"? ;)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Uhhhhh.....ummmm.....the first two letters of Star are ST...yeah, that's it. That's the ticket! :)

The hazards of doing 3 things at once I guess...the point remains valid though.

Uhhh, on further reflection, i have no idea to what you're referring to....(the wonders of edit post :) )

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm neutral on the logo. I don't think it's really that important one way or the other.

I mean, the bottom line is this: Disney and LucasFilm today are not what they were in '77-'83, nor '99-'05. I wouldn't expect the marketing to be at all the same. For that matter, I wouldn't expect it to be the same as JJ's Star Trek films. It'll be its own thing. While the marketing MAY indicate a particular direction in the content of the films, I tend to think it probably won't. At least not with things like the logo and such.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the logo. It seems too...I dunno...kitschy? A little too cute? It's clever for fan-made material, but I find it hard to believe that it's the best that LFL and Disney's marketing folks can come up with.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Seeing him in Ender's Game, though...man...he's looking pretty weather-beaten to be playing the hero anymore.
