Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I would imagine that at some point Han AND the Falcon are going to be used for a fast escape or come to the last minute rescue (as in the ending of IV). I mean what else can Han really do? Agreed Ford is too old for running, jumping and shooting. I can't see Leia as anything more than a political Mon Mothma type figure.

Luke, on the other hand, I would like to see a little more of. At least as much as Obi-Wan's role in ANH. I would bet anything that Hamill gets at least one more lightsaber fight. I think he could pull it off.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Looking back, how much of an action hero was Ford in the OT? I don't recall him exerting himself too much, aside from some running through Death Star corridors. Most of Solo's skills are in piloting.

He'll do fine.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

There was a bit on MADD TV way way back that was called "Han Solo running". I can't seem to find it on Youtube but it was just several minutes of him running through the Death Star......It was funnier than it sounds....

As a pilot, sure. But he shot his way out of Mos Eisley, ran around on the Death Star, rode a Taun Taun into the frozen Hoth wastes, and led the commando mission to Endor. I think his days as a ground-pounder are behind him.

Yep, it's quite in real time. And few words from Bob Iger.

The movie starts in about 6 weeks and it's too early to give any other news? Well then, I hope they can retain this level of secrecy all the way through production as it would be indeed refreshing to be surprised until they release a trailer.

I'll skip even the trailer. Aside from casting, I'm sticking with staying in the dark on this one.

With Luke, I think he wouldn't be doing much running, but I can see him getting somewhat into the mix as needed, a la Obi-Wan when he was "Getting too old for this sort of thing." Luke would be getting too old for this sort of thing, too, but I can still see him doing it when needed. I just hope they don't kill him off just because they think "Well, mentors have to die. We should hit the same emotional beats as the last films. Just like we did in Star Trek Into Darkness."

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Actually I don't know if Luke would be too old. Mark may be too old.

Let's see, Luke was supposed to be 20 in IV. Empire is , what, a couple years later, and Jedi is supposed to be only about six months after Empire, correct? That would really put Luke as only about 23/24 at the end of Jedi. Now add 30 years that only makes Luke in his early fifties. Hhhmmm, they may have to de-age Hamill some.

Of course Jedis seem to age a lot faster than the rest of us. Obi-wan's age doesn't really add up between the prequals and the OT either.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Are we forgetting that Christopher Lee was almost 80 when he first played Count Dooku? Sure, he didn't have a lot of action - mostly walking and talking - but we got a few good fights out of him. I'm not saying that Han should be Mr. action throughout the whole thing, but give Harrison some credit. He's in excellent physical condition for his age so there's no reason he can't pull off an action sequence or two.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Obi wan seems in his early twenties during Phantom Menace. Annikin says it's been ten years since he saw Padme in AOTC. that would make Obi wan in his early thirties there. Do we know how long the Clone Wars animated show lasts? Can't be more than a few years, I would think. Then ROTS happens. that would put Obi Wan as in his late thirties. Twenty years takes place between the prequals and the OT. Obi wan should only be in his late fifties or early sixties during ANH. But we all know that ain't the case. Or do we? Exactly how old was Guiness when he did ANH?

According to Wookieepedia, Obi-Wan was born 57BBY, which would make him... 57 when he died.

The Ultimate Guide to ?Star Wars: Episode VII? - The Daily Beast

1. Lupita Nyong’o met with JJ Abrams before the Oscars, and is rumored to be in the running for the female lead, possibly as a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

2. Adam Driver has been all but confirmed to be the Vader-like villain.

3. Breaking Bad and Friday Night Light’s Jesse Plemons has been rumored to be the male lead.

4. Also in the running for the male lead: Downton Abbey’s Ed Speleers, John Boyega, Matthew James Thomas, and Ray Fisher.

5. Michael Fassbender met with JJ Abrams to discuss a role, but it probably won’t be for Episode VII.

6. Hugo Weaving has also reportedly met for the role of “Imperial Commander.”

7. Michael B. Jordan says he auditioned.

8. Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch may have both been after the same role—and both may have been cast.

9. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill are all coming back.

10. There may be a female Sith bad guy.

11. There’s a search for 7-foot actors, which could signal a Wookie.

12. Billy Dee Williams may return. Which means everyone wins.

13. The film was originally supposed to follow the offspring of Luke, Leia and Han, but has reportedly since been rewritten to focus on the original trilogy characters. (Time travel? JJ sure does love doing that.)

14. We may finally see the Sith home planet.

15. Lawrence Kasdan is a co-writer. He did The Empire Strikes Back. This is a good thing.

16. The film might begin with the reconstruction of the Republic, now that the Empire has fallen.

17. John Williams will compose the score. (This movie wouldn’t feel right without the “Imperial March.”)

18. It was reportedly that the film will focus on twins, and “which will take a path towards darkness and which will follow in their father’s footsteps.” Which could be a reference not to Luke and Leia, but to Jacen and Jaina Solo—Han and the Leia’s kids. For those who haven’t read Star Wars fiction, Jacen eventually chooses the dark side and turns into Darth Caedus.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I heard it's all going to be done in Wookiee with subtitles in esperanto.

Also, they're going to have the female lead played by a dead actress. Mostly just to have her sitting in chairs, laying on sofas, falling out of cupboards, that sort of thing.

Also, I hear the Jedi all get a wicked case of Kowakian-monkey-lizard-pox and lose their force abilities, meaning that Han Solo becomes the most powerful man in the galaxy, with Lando as his right hand man, and Nien Nunb as their chief galactic enforcer.

The film will also feature a cameo by one of the Beastie Boys because JJ loves them.

Also, to try to keep the film authentic to its timeframe roots, all characters will wear corduroy trousers, turtlenecks, and puffy winter jackets. Mostly in earth tones.

Everything here is absolutely confirmed, because it now exists on the Intarwebz. Spread the word.

--EDIT--

I would like it noted that I am NOT AT ALL attacking rodney. Rather, I'm trying to point out that, until something concrete is announced by the studio, my predictions list is every bit as valid as articles like the one above.

In other words, it is all wild speculation based on little to no information, some of which may even be made up.

I'm serious about the turtlenecks, though.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I find it interesting to think of it in a "What would it be like if they did XYZ" sense. However, I get annoyed at the websites out there that keep saying stuff like "So and so is GUARANFREAKINTEED to be Darth Marthabarthbarth in the next Star Wars film." They're just trying to generate clicks and gin up controversy.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Now that Mark Hamill is confirmed as a guest for this years SW Weekends at Disney this year and for the first time, I think we can end speculation regarding his involvement in Ep.7, he must be in.
