Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Ok, say they did start from complete scratch on the project (excepting the outline by Lucas) after the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm. They hired Arndt in November of last year. You're telling me that a professional writer whose done this many, many times before, takes an entire year to write a script? I don't think so. And only after that entire year of writing, and who knows how many drafts, do they decide that Arndt's work is no good and decide to start over yet again? I'm sorry, but Lucasfilm knew from the beginning when Disney wanted the movie released, so there is no excuse as to why they can't have it done within that time frame. I get that they're trying to make this the best possible movie after the huge backlash from the prequels, and i respect and want that too, even though I'm a part of the minority that actually liked the prequels overall. All I'm saying is that given the amount of time that's passed since the beginning of production, to say that the studio's release date is unreasonable is unreasonable in itself.

Actually, Arndt was hired hired by Lucas pre-aquisition, wasn't he?

That I'm not sure about...I just assumed that since they announced it after the acquisition that he was hired then but he could have been I suppose

Thank you for ignoring my typo. I am pretty sure he was hired by Lucas himself and he and his draft was part of the deal. If so, when they finally signed JJ, he clearly felt the screenplay needed to be reworked with Kasdan, so I think the timing would seem to make sense in that regard.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

As we all know they are busy making props, I spoke to a guy who told me that there is a ROTJ Stormtrooper prop to inspire the makers and another said that Sand Troopers were back n the agenda. Only chit chat but reliable sources.....

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I would love to see the story of Luke rebuilding the Jedi order. If not a movie, then some Web shorts digital. Lucas needs to appprove.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I have this feeling they will shoot the entire trilogy practical ala LOTR. Spend the next several years improving the digital effects or at least getting it cheaper.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The fist of the new trilogy has to be released by a set date. Its all part of corporate ledgers and investment gains. Its also to do with an entire real world publicity tie ins for the Disney theme parks and product placement. The clocks ticking...
