Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Except Wolfsburg :p

Haha, yeah. I don't have anything against Ewan but what can I say? I thought he was just adequate, not great. He got the job done and that was that. He never really struck me as a younger version of the character we knew from the OT, though that's as much George's fault as anyone else. As I said, if they decide to bring back Obi-wan's ghost, I would much rather see Alec Guinness' image rather than see them introducing some bizarre continuity problems by making Old Ben suddenly look like Ewan. Now, if we are simply talking about holocrons or old recordings, then naturally Ewan McGregor's return would be more palatable and make more sense. Of course, we're just assuming these rumors are true at all.

You know what this means--Force Ghost Obi-Wan versus Force Ghost Sidious in a Force Ghost Lightsaber duel. :lol

No joke, there are actually people (fans) that are theorizing about just such a scenario! *shudder*

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Is anyone else worried at how sad the original actors are going to look on screen? I mean Mark's put on a good bit of weight (he could lose it), Carrie would look very matronly/motherly which isn't bad, but man Han is going to look really rough.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Well supposedly Mark and Carrie have been told to lose weight but we'll see, I guess. While I personally think Luke would've probably kept pretty fit, I think if Mark wore a nice beard and some layered robes, he would be pretty convincing as an aged and wise Jedi Master and his weight wouldn't be so obvious. Alec Guinness wasn't that trim either, afterall. I think Leia could come across as matronly pretty well though I'm a little more concerned about Carrie's mental state. Frankly, I think Harrison Ford has aged better than any of them and doesn't look bad at all, especially considering he's 70 years old.

I am actually a little worried about Peter Mayhew playing Chewbacca. He apparently needs knee replacement surgery and last I saw, he uses a wheelchair and can barely walk. Even when he does, he needs the assistance of a cane. Unless Chewie is sitting all the time, is omitted (boo!), or is recast (booooo!), I'm not sure how they are gonna handle that.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Hollywood Reporter spoke to the creators of 'Phineas and Ferb' about their upcoming "Star Wars" episode:

THR: You're also doing a Star Wars crossover episode next year.

Povenmire: We are. The fact that they allowed us to do a Marvel crossover really emboldened us and as soon as we found out there was a merger with Lucasfilm, I literally drew on a Post-It a picture of Doofenshmirtz as Darth Vader and I took a picture of it and texted it to the head of the TV animation studio and said, "I smell crossover!" He wrote back and said, "I'm having lunch with the head of the channel right now. That was the first thing we started talking about." It happened very quickly apparently. Their pitch to [Disney chairman/CEO] Bob Iger was the picture [I drew]. I wasn't in this meeting but what we were told was Bob Iger said, "Oh yeah, we gotta get right on that." That was as much as it took.

The link has more of the interview.

and that's my fears of Disney buying the star wars coming true right there! Goofy Maul anyone?

no big deal. its no different than the Family Guy mashup, Thumb Wars and 1987's Spaceballs by Mel Brooks ...

Details For PHINEAS AND FERB and STAR WARS Mash-Up ? GeekTyrant
A few weeks Disney announced that they would be combining the worlds of Phineas and Ferb and Star Wars. There were no details revealed at the time about the kind of story they would tell, but in a recent interview with EW, Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh offered some details on the crossover.

"All of [the plot of A New Hope] happens exactly the way it did, but we find out that Phineas and Ferb are Luke’s neighbors on Tatooine and become embroiled in the adventure. Our story all takes place as if you had a slightly wider shot, you could see our characters. Or if you just waited around five minutes after this [Star Wars] storyline, our characters would pass through, which was really really fun to do."
That sounds like it could be fun. They went on to talk about the the voices of the Star Wars characters saying,

"The Star Wars actors are now all 40 years older, so they don’t sound quite the same, so we’re trying to find people who sound like they did when they were young. The guy we had come in to do Harrison Ford sounded so much like young Harrison Ford. It was like, if you didn’t look up you thought, ‘We have Harrison Ford in the booth!’"
They go on to tease that there will be some cameos though from "a few fun folks that also really fit in in a weird way with the whole Star Wars universe."

Phineas and Ferb's Star Wars tribute will air in 2014!

How long before the Anthony Daniels casting news?

Still no Billy Dee Williams?

I hope these guys have quick cameos. I know a lot of Trek fans don't like JJs new movies, but he did leave it in a great spot. By the end of the second movie, a great cast is in place, the five year mission is beginning, and the future is unknown.
I'm hoping JJ can do something similar with Star Wars. I hope there are a few cameos by the previous characters, but by the end of the first movie it should be centered around all new characters with a wide open galaxy ahead of them.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

ya, I was certain we would hear something about Anthony Daniels by now. could be everyone is on a non disclosure/confidentiality agreement for now. I still think Tony did a forehead slap when he first heard the news... I can just hear him saying "oh no, I gotta wear that suit yet again?!" LOL!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I also hope there is a seriously badass villain. We all know Vader was awesome in the OT, and you also had the emperor, but other than Darth Maul's quick 15 minutes of fame, I never felt any sense of danger from the villains in the PT.
I hope they cast a great actor as villain and his character has a formidable skillset.

Who would be a good Sith? Cumberbatch? Fassbender? Gosling?

Something about Noomie Rapace makes me think she could be a great Jedi.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

And other than General Grievous being able to handle 6 lightsabers at the same time he was just always running away.... not very intimidating. I think we need a villian with 20 arms and holding 20 lightsabers this time! :lol Count Dookie just felt like everyone's uncle that made bad decisions and decided to go rob a bank. He was just always disappointed in everyone for not joining him... :sleep
But Darth Vader had a presence. and mystery... and dispatched people for not doing their job to his satisfaction! :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

but can he do the older Alec Guinness voice? I haven't listened to all his voice-overs... He was a perfect match for Ewan but if we are going that way just use Ewan.

Yes, I have heard him in interviews do older Obi wan it he is very good. He's a voice actor and that's what they would need if they choose to not actually show the actor.

good to know. I'd be for that. no need for the ghost.. didn't need a visual ghost in New Hope after Obi was cut down.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

holy crap who are these guys?! :D I just watched 4 of the Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan Impressions on The Trip videos... in #2 he does a dead on Liam Neeson! Now I can see his force ghost coming back! LOL!

Peter Serafinowicz (Voice actor of Darth Maul) does a decent Alec Guinness.....(please excuse the foul language)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I think you guys have brought up a good point. Though I'm kinda doubting they will shy away from showing Obi-wan if they can, I think they might could get away with just letting the audience hear him and not seeing him. I am familiar with Peter Serafinowicz but had no idea he could pull off Alec Guinness' voice so well. Maybe I'm just crazy, but with some aging, tweaking and a beard, is it me or does he kinda look the part too?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Holy! I think he could pull it off perfectly with a little ageing!
