Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Honestly, while I will certainly go see Ep.VII, I am really over Star Wars.
The market was so over-saturated for so long during and after the prequels, it's just not "special" anymore.

I would certainly disagree with this assessment. A $4 billion dollar franchise that is almost 40 years old is remarkably relevant.

The prequels and special editions have taken their toll. The market was saturated.....with disappointment.

I remember a time when I couldn't get enough Star Wars. I don't think anyone could. It was THE brand.

I just don't know if it can return to that, but I bet Episode VII is a hit financially. I just hope it is good. Another bad entry, and I will be over it as well. Still holding out hope there is something special in that galaxy far far away.

And yet children are running around in STAR WARS shirts, watching the CLONE WARS, and playing STAR WASR Angry Birds. We need to not always view the franchise through our eye's but those of our kids.

Beat me to it. Star Wars was the **** for us because we were young. Granted, the OT is FAR superior to the PT in almost every way, but to my kids it's totally the ****. (They prefer the OT but do enjoy the PT)

They can't get enough.

Exactly. Any talk of STAR WARS being irrelevant is irrelevant. Walk into a Target or WalMart toy section and behold a multi billion dollar irrelevancy in the toy aisle.. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I don't think age has anything to do with not liking the special editions or prequels. I am 40 years old and I LOVED The Avengers and Pacific Rim. I do see kids with Star Wars items. I am aware that some kids like it. I go to Simon Pegg for that.

That was funny. :)

YOU don't like the prequels or SE. SOME adult fans agree with YOU. But just because YOU are tired of STAR WARS, think the market is saturated, and disappointed doesn't make you CORRECT. Never confuse your opinion with economic reality.

I do. That clip you posted reinforces it. I don't have an issue with the Ewoks. As an adult I know they're not great but I loved them as a kid.

When my kids are older I'm sure they won't think Jar-Jar was great but they won't have the same hate that I have for the character.

TheForce.net: Lucasfilm Debunks Rumor That J.J. Abrams Is Considering Abandoning Episode VII

Im not tired of Star Wars. I cant wait for Episode VII. Ill be at the midnight opening. I am just saying I hope it isnt a disappointment like the special editions and prequels were. I know some adults like them too, not just kids, and I know its just my opinion, but that is all anyone has when it comes to entertainment.

Agreed, but re-read what you wrote previously, you painted with a pretty broad brush there, hombre. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

175 pages of Star Wars: Episode VII... Who's tired of Star Wars? :lol

I wasn't tired of Star Wars but I was tired of being disappointed. Go Disney...make three good SW movies and bring balance back to the series by having more good than bad (Lucas logic).

As good a balance theory as any! :lol

And you, my brother, are the quintessential poster child for all of us SW fans... :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Right, but it calls into question how that qualifies as "balance" exactly. Is only the light side considered "balance"? Is it a numerical thing? Is it balance within Anakin? Lucas never really explains it, and it's the kind of thing that nobody was around to push him on.

I've lost count of how many times I've posted this and no one ever listens. Lucas said balance, for the Jedi, means the absence of the Sith. I don't think you'd ever get rid of everyone using the Dark Side, it's just the Sith have more control over it than the untrained people using it. People keep saying it's a 50/50 thing, it's not. The idea of balance is coming from the Jedi, so it's their view of what balance is, not the literal definition of balance.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Devin from Badass Digest never outright said JJ was leaving, he said he has been hearing rumors about it due to JJ's conflict with the location and schedule. Some sites took it away stating that he said JJ is dropping out.

Devin posted an update.

UPDATE: I just want to make it clear that I never said Abrams is leaving. I'm just saying that I have heard rumors from MANY sources that he's been considering/threatening it. Other web types have heard the same. We've all been hearing it for MONTHS. There have been a lot of other sites that have been running with this part of the story as if it's in stone, and it isn't even close.
