Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

2. Whether events in the films DIRECTLY contradict EU events. Like, say, Han and Leia marry and have the three kids from the EU, who are all adults, but Chewie isn't dead and nobody mentions the Vong ever. That'd pretty much retcon the whole Vong storyline out of existence.

Yes! I'd have no problem with that. I didn't like that series and it wrecked one of the coolest planets (Coruscant).

BTW when you talk about the Solo kids, that depends on the time period. If this is 20 years after ROTJ, Jaina Solo is a complete bad*ss. Remember they are from the Anakin Skywalker lineage so they are powerful.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I don't want VII overcrowded with too many of the old characters, but if you have Luke, Leia, and Han, you've got to have Lando.

I haven't read any mention of him.

Billy Dee Williams gotta eat!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Looks like JJ and KK are in a collision course over the concept of secrecy!

JJ seems to be a strong personality type; let's hope his angle wins out over hers. I've had little willpower with this before! :p

Aside from wrecking the cool planet, it was just absurd to think a single civilization/race of beings was somehow powerful enough to topple a republic of over a million worlds. Go figure...

I know it's probably inevitable but I really don't want Han and Leia to have kids...

QFT!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I think once Into Darkness comes out, the arm chair quarterbacking on his efforts to keep that film under wraps will have proven to have backfired on him. He could have managed fan expectations much better after reading the spoilers in the other thread.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I guess at the end of the day we're all responsible for ourselves. If we want spoilers, they'll be there. If we don't, we should just stay away from the internet.

True, but in the case of JJ and Into Darkness, they actually engaged in a mis-information campaign of sorts that I think pissed a lot of folks, myself included, off. And now that I know what the pay off is in regards to that film I think it was an even bigger mistake. Hopefully KK can see the value in nurturing fan expectations and desire to know what's happening in the creative process and manage that more successfully.

Ah, I didn't know that. I agree with you completely.

Totally agree. Keep things a secret but don't go lying to your fans.

This sums up my feelings of Episode VII:

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Lando is actually one of the few characters who would fit in a "non-rebellion" story. He was an administrator when we met him and by all accounts we could assume he would return to that type of role. :thumbsup

And who wouldn't want to return to Cloud City? I can only imagine what it would look like
now with all the twenty-first century effects...!
